The sun shone ☀️as the kids all enjoyed an action packed morning of fun, all getting stuck in and supporting each other. Well done to Jonny and Finlay, our players of the week 💪🏆

🏉 Sedgley Park 15-50 Burnage U13s

A repeat of last year’s cracking cup fixture saw Burnage travel to Sedgley Park for a friendly.

The hosts struck first from the kick-off, but our lads responded brilliantly. Disciplined defence, quick breakaways and some slick set plays helped Burnage take control in a hard-fought contest.

Thanks to Sedgley Park for the warm welcome and excellent hospitality. We look forward to seeing you again soon! 💛🖤

🏉 U13 Burnage Rugby

A 45-15 loss away to Didsbury Barbarians, but the score doesn’t tell the full story. With no subs, the lads were only 5 points down at half-time and spent much of the first half camped on the opposition try line.

Fresh legs off the bench made the difference in the second half, but our boys never stopped battling, finishing strongly with two late tries.

We are super proud of the effort, resilience and team spirit shown by every player on Sunday. 💛🖤

On Sunday afternoon, Burnage Under 15s travelled to Green Lane for the Heatons Derby.
This is always a hard fought match with both teams keen to do well as they battle against classmates and friends.
It has been a tough few years for Burnage and we have never before managed to win at Green Lane.
The match was a pulsating; physical game and Heaton Moor defended brilliantly to hold a 5 point lead at half time.
In the second half; relentless Burnage pressure and quick ruck speed saw us take the lead and then - only narrowly- hold onto it and end up winners by a very small margin.
Some of the Burnage players have been with us for almost a decade but never tasted a win at Green Lane so it was a happy moment in the huddle at the end of the game.
Heaton Moor were excellent hosts and the game was played in tremendous spirit. The rematch later this season should be a cracker.

Burnage U9s continued their great early season form with a brilliant morning away at local neighbours Heaton Moor 🔴🟡⚫️.

The kids put on a display of super rugby 🏉, with some dominant tackling on display 💥, as well as impressive handling and support play to score some excellent tries 💪.

Our players of the week were Theo and Elliott who showcased their recent learnings on tackle technique throughout 🏆👏.

Next week the U9s play their first home game of the season in a triple header with Ormskirk and Tyldesley. 🖤💛

Burnage U9s had a great day out at their second festival in 2 weeks, this time (MRC1860 on Insta) who were great hosts 🏉!

The improvement the kids have shown in their first full tackle matches is fantastic 👍 and it’s brilliant to see them all having a go, building confidence and enjoying themselves 😁.

The Bees 🐝 and Bulldogs 🐶scored some superb tries and made some top tackles in an excellent day all round 💪.

Our players of the week were Imogen and Joseph 🏆🏆 who really worked hard and grew into the matches as the games went on 👏👏.

Tomorrow is a local derby away at Heaton Moor 🔴🟡⚫️.

🏉 Lancashire Cup | U13s

Burnage U13s met Southport RUFC in the first round of this year’s Lancashire Cup.

It was a rip-roaring match, with both teams showing tremendous commitment, effort and determination throughout.

The game finished as a well-earned draw, with each side crossing for six tries in a fantastic contest.

A huge credit to all the players involved for producing such an entertaining game and displaying the true spirit of rugby.

Next up for our U13s is a trip to Didsbury Barbarians.

If you have a boy in Year 8 who would like to give the best team sport around a go, get in touch with the Academy and come down to a training session. New players are always welcome! 🏉🖤💛
