This is a battle I’ve accepted in the last few weeks, because my goals have leveled up.

I’ve gained 5kg.

Fitness isn’t how lean you look, it’s what your body can consistently do.

One version of me looks fitter; the other version performs better, recovers faster, and is stronger.

We all compare aesthetics— but my focus is output and those two things are not always aligned.

Trying to explain that one body is fitter than the other isn’t always easy.

Picture 1: December 2025
Calorie deficit. Depleted physique. Dehydrated. Training is limited. Strength is down. Mentally drained. Constantly low on energy. More prone to injury. This body is not operating well.

Picture 2: April 2026
Calorie surplus. Fully fueled. Strong. Able to train for hours. Recovering better. Performance improving. Still tired at times—but that comes with the workload, Solid mindset, an overall fitter body.

One day in the future it might boil down to how I look again but right now I’m training for performance.

I can train for Aesthetics, I’ve shown that! I was 88kg in 2017. Now I’m training to be an Ironman, it hits different. I need a body that works and can do hard s**t.

What I’ve learnt in two months of Ironman training:

Mum guilt is real.

The obsession with ticking off the day’s training takes over, and somehow I try to overcompensate with my kids—like I’m constantly trying to balance scales that never quite settle.

The self-doubt is loud. Then louder.

4:30am alarms.
Coaching.
Teaching
Personal training.

Running on fumes but telling myself it’s discipline.
Emotional dysfunction on repeat

Feeling like I have to document everything—
as if proving it makes it more valid.

And still… feeling like I’m not doing enough.

Constant dehydration.
Constant questioning.
Constant talking myself into it.

Also—barely anyone even knows what an Ironman actually is.

The swims? Awful.
Half the battle is just finding a pool.

The bike? I’m terrible. It’s embarrassing.

I keep thinking maybe I should’ve just stuck to running.

And then the deeper thoughts creep in—

Will my kids ever understand what this means?

Or will Marvel always be more impressive than their mum?

People keep asking me what’s next, like an Ironman isn’t enough!

Time management is everything.

Because this is the reality:

Being a hands-on mum.
Running a business (20+ hours a week).
Being a full-time teacher.
Trying to train.
Trying to eat properly.
Trying to be present in all of it.

It’s harder than I ever imagined.

And honestly…

Do full time working mums even do this?

Or is this just for men
and women without kids?

Because right now, it feels like I’m trying to prove that it’s possible—

While quietly wondering if it really is. Thankful for all the help along the way to get in my disciplines but when it steps up, will I step down ?

Time’s catching up, and my body knows it.
Every goal I hunt leaves a mark.

We go again tomorrow
keeping me accountable 🫡
