And so September is here again.

The Summer might be waning but I feel ready for the turning of the seasons. I am ready to welcome the cooler weather. I am ready to welcome cosy nights in. I am ready to get back to regular rhythms and schedule of teaching yoga.

How about you? How do you feel about the end of the Summer?

The energy of yoga flows through every movement. Each yoga pose activates different energy centres in the body. Some will ground, some will energise, some will calm emotions and some will promote compassion.

This is the energy of yoga. This is what makes yoga different - a spiritual practice rather than simply exercise.

Come and join me for a yoga class in September and experience it for yourself.

Can you feel the season’s shifting?

The coming bank holiday weekend signals the end of the summer holidays and a return to more regular rhythms and activities. While it is lovely to be enjoying all the freedom that the summer months can bring it can often leave you feeling tired and faded. If this feels like you it is the perfect time to practice grounding – consciously connecting to the stillness of the earth.

There are many ways of grounding but one of the most effortless is through Thai yoga massage. The nurturing touch combined with both rocking movements and stillness allow your body to rest deeply so that you can replenish your energy and refocus your mind.

If you would like to give yourself a pause to recover before autumn properly begins I have appointments available at my therapy space in Marple in September on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Find out more below

Today at my Roots of Practice summer school we discussed the concept of Sadhana.

Sadhana is the Sanskrit word for a sacred practice or ritual. It can be helpful to think of your yoga practice as a sacred practice, one that is reserved for the benefit of your own health.

Developing your own sadhana invites you to step into the energy of cherishing the everyday choices that support your wellbeing. With sadhana your kitchen can become a sacred space to nourish yourself. With sadhana a walk in the woods can become precious time in nature.

With sadhana stepping onto your yoga mat transforms the practice from simply something you do into something you savour and honour.

Next week is the final session of Roots of Practice. We will be discovering the energy of yoga and the power of the chakras . If you are curious you can book your place below.

Today in Roots of Practice summer school we have been discussing what yoga is.

While most modern yoga concentrates on the physical body, movement and postures, yoga actually encompasses much more than that. Lifestyle, breathwork, stillness as well as the concentration and focus of meditation all play a part in bringing harmony and union to the body, mind and soul.

Next week we will be exploring how to live a yogic lifestyle. If you are curious you can book your place below.

What to expect from your first Thai yoga massage

03/08/2026

I am trying something a bit different this Summer. As well as my yoga classes continuing to run throughout August, I am also running a three part introduction to yoga philosophy. I have wanted to share the ancient wisdom supporting the yoga I teach for a while as I know how much deepening my understanding of yoga has benefitted my own yoga practice.

There are three sessions:

🧘 Part 1 - The essence of yoga - origins, history and foundations of yoga

🧘 Part 2 - Living your yoga - ethics and lifestyle

🧘 Part 3 - The energy of yoga - overview of the chakras

So if you have been curious about yoga, what the terms mean, how to live your yoga off the mat, why the chakras matter this could be for you.

Sessions run on 10.00 am Thursday mornings starting on the 6th August at my space at Lentils & Lather in Marple. You can book for one or all three. Book your spot below.
