I really didn't want to do it this morning. I'm day 1 of my period which always floors me, but I agreed with Rachel I'd do it as she needed a lift back following her long run ๐๐ป

I ended up enjoying it. It's a tough course with hills. There were also some downhills, but I felt cautious of slipping on the downhills as I wasn't wearing trail shoes, so had to ease off a bit. โฃI enjoyed trying to attack the hills though and felt strong. Decided to power my run with my "Eminem" playlist today which also worked wonders for me.

A seriously tough race in brutal heat conditions. I finished 41 seconds slower than my PB, but honestly Iโm happy with the result given the circumstances. The heat completely changed the race and managing hydration became just as important as fitness.โฃ

Early on I made the decision to keep stopping for water. It cost time, but I wanted to make sure I finished strong โ especially after travelling down on the same day...didn't want to DNF. Overall, Iโm happy with how I raced. The biggest frustration was miscounting laps on the front carry. I corrected it and made the distance back up, but it was definitely a lapse in focus that shouldnโt happen. Iโll blame the heatโฆ and the plate burning my arm ๐โฃ

Truthfully, I hardly did any Deadly Dozen-specific training between Leicester and Birmingham because ๐ฆ๐ฒ ๐๐จ๐๐ฎ๐ฌ ๐ฐ๐๐ฌ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐๐๐ฅ๐จ๐ง๐. I actually wasnโt planning to race DD again so soon, but after qualifying for UK Champs I decided to give it a go
