Burnage parkrun
Event number 633

This week 263 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 76 were first timers and 21 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 28 different clubs took part.

It was an absolute scorcher today! Well done to everyone that completed the course in the heat and HUGE THANKS to all of this week's volunteers - our event couldn't go ahead without you! We had 2 volunteers taking on their first ever roles this week and 6 volunteers taking on roles they haven't done before. All of today's volunteers were absolutely amazing. A special mention for our junior tailwalker Ruby, who achieved her 10th volunteering milestone today. Also, John Kennedy, Burnage regular and one of today's carpark marshals, who achieved his 25th volunteering milestone. Congratulations and thank you to both Ruby and John!

A warm parkrun welcome to the 10 people that completed their very first parkruns today: Amber, Imran, Hannah, Walter, Simon, Jon, Gary, Eva, Julia and Stas. We hope you enjoyed your time with us today and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon!

Congratulations to Anna Coleman, who completed her 10th parkrun today! Anna is one of our regular DofEs, having notched up an impressive 72 volunteers, so it's great to see her now achieving recognition for completing the course.

Other milestones today were achieved by Daniel Jameson, who completed his 50th parkrun and Hanna Burgess and Matthew Beaumont, who both completed their 100th parkruns. We'd also like to give a special arbitrary mention to Samantha Onslow who completed her 300th parkrun today. Congratulations and well done to you all!

parkrun for Mental Health - Saturday 16th May 💚

This week, Burnage parkrun will be welcoming volunteers from Heaton Moor Medical Group.

'As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, we're highlighting the positive impact that movement, community and connection can have on our mental wellbeing. Whether you walk, jog, run, volunteer or simply come along for a chat, parkrun is about so much more than 5k.'

'In June 2018 parkrun UK launched the parkrun practice initiative in collaboration with the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP). This innovative and award-winning project encourages GP practices to develop close links with their local parkrun event/s by becoming a parkrun practice. The aim is to encourage as many staff and patients as possible to take part in parkrun, and reap the incredible health and wellbeing benefits of doing so.'

If you'd like to take part as a volunteer this week we still need a carpark marshal, someone to give the first timer's welcome and a couple of people to sort the tokens after our run. Please email [email protected] or reply to this post. Thanks to everyone already on this week's roster!
