Burnage parkrun

We are planning a Pacer Trial this weekend. We have 11 pacers lined up at various times from 20 to 35 minutes.
HOWEVER, we have more pacers than volunteers at the moment.
I appreciate the irony of the contradictory message but we need more volunteers to support the runners.
All positions, other than Tail Walker are available so please let me know asap. Thanks. Mark.

This week 236 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 49 were first timers and 15 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 31 different clubs took part.

A warm welcome to Kristian, Matthew, Bella, Kerry-Niamh, Sarah, Pranav, Adele, Lorna and Gareth who all completed their first ever parkruns today. We hope you enjoyed our event and we look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Milestone congratulations go to Finlay Crosby who completed his 10th parkrun today. Arbitrary congratulations to John Daly who completed his 200th parkrun and Ben Gnatiuk who completed his 300th parkrun. Belated congratulations to Belinda Brennan who ran her 250th parkrun last week at Alexandra but celebrated this week at her home run, bringing chocolates and sweets for everyone to enjoy - thank you for the energy boost!

We also had a graduate wearing their cap and gown this week amongst the runners! Huge congratulations to you, not just on graduating but on managing to run in your attire given that we've had a heatwave for the last few weeks.

Burnage parkrun started on 21st July 2012. Since then 15,929 participants have completed 87,733 parkruns covering a total distance of 438,665 km, including 11,912 new Personal Bests. A total of 1,397 individuals have volunteered 12,211 times.

Don't forget, it's going to be hot! Please consider whether you need to bring a bottle to hydrate, wear sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, breathable clothing etc. Obviously, it's parkrun so you can come along however you want, but we want to make sure you're as safe as possible during our event. 😎🧢🩳👕💦

Well! What an event we had yesterday.
There was lots to celebrate and unpack from yesterday - June 20th

Katherine was also instrumental in getting both myself and Lynsey to be onboard with Run Directing during her 6 and a bit year tenure as Event Director for Burnage.

Just a note about our other unusual feature to yesterday - the presence of one of 10 touring boomerang mascots that are currently travelling the world - visiting parkruns, and creating connections wherever they visit. I will post a link to the website that gives more context about their journeys. However, if you want to follow B12 'Ozzy' whilst the 🪃 is still in the North West region, then you can see the boomerang next at Kingsway parkrun in Urmston on June 27th.

A big thank you to all of our volunteers from yesterday. It was a great team effort, and we hope that everyone who was there on the day - whether you ran, walked, jogged, volunteered or spectated, enjoyed the occasion as much as Lynsey and I did.

A big thank you also goes to our special guest photographer - Jan Christoph-Telford. Jan took something close to 1,000 photos yesterday, and as you can imagine, it takes time to sort through and present them. So we'll do a different post when those come in.
