Wow, where do you start with the TCS London marathon, what a day marshalling itโ€ฆ..Just incredible experience ๐Ÿ˜

After getting up at 4am and following 6 TV camera bikes into town we arrived at Blackheath at 6am to start our duty. We were pre-start Marshallโ€™s directing 60,000 athletes to the correct starting pen, red, blue, green, pink, yellow, championship, accessibility tent and the TCS warm up area. After the the 40 baggage lorry convey arrived we were given our area to work. We were just outside the Blue start which held around 23,000 athletes. Convoys of coaches and train loads of people starting to arrive and the place was electric full of excitement and nerves. The temperature was rising and the pens started to fill up fast for the 9:35am mass start. Drones, helicopters, tv, security, hot air balloons, music, nerves and excitement, incredible atmosphere by now ๐Ÿ˜

As the athletes started to cross the start line and get on their 26.2 mile journey the pens slowly emptied and it got quieter and quieter until only a few thousand were left. We were stood down from our duty and had the day free to watch the marathon so headed over to Mudchute around mile 16/17 to cheers people on. The noise and atmosphere was emense, and the temperature was getting hotter. What a day ๐Ÿ˜

Crazy mad long day but what an amazing experience wow and to do it on a day the 2 hour marathon was destroyed by Sebastian Sawe ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Well done to everyone who ran and marshalled and supported as it, it was a magical day.

Looking forward to TCS London class of 27 next year ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
