The Wellington 2️⃣ - 3️⃣ Roundel
Entertaining morning in Boro in the first round of the league cup. Two weeks without a game scheduled, the boys were raring to go. Great numbers and squad depth were available, including two new signings
Game started off well. We were on the front foot immediately, winning a corner. It falls to Marc, who lashes at it, which gets deflected again for a corner.
Down the other end, The Welly grew into the game, and their first real attack brought out a good stop from Money Mase.
New signing Dylon lashed a shot narrowly wide down at the other end. The Welly were the first to go ahead. A strike from outside of the box caught Mason off guard with the sun belting in his eyes. 1-0.
That was time to go up a gear and kick on. The front three of Ben Kie and Dylon were causing problems. It was Kieran whose flick-on found Dylon to smartly tuck away to make the game equal. 1-1
Second half started, and now with the sun behind us, we started to play some good football. Cory Jordan and Karl all buzzed around the place. With the depth we had on the bench, we made some changes. James, Jam, and another new signing Alex were all introduced
Wasn’t long before they made an impact. The ball slaps into James’s face 😂, falls into Jordan’s feet, who does a great mazey run and belts it into the bottom corner. Great goal. 2-1.
Just when we got a foot hold on the game, The Welly were given a dubious penalty. They made no mistake. 2-2.
We went again. Jam, who was instructed just to sit and protect the back four, actually listened to Coatesy. His pass finds Jordan, who turns, drives forward, and now with his weaker right foot scores another great goal. 3-2. Boshhh.
The Welly chucked everything at us in the last 5 minutes, but the full back four, especially Uncle Long, who was playing in the unfamiliar role of centre half along with Lacy, were both rock solid all game. 👏

Great to come back again from behind, our heads didn’t drop and we kicked on, two good new additions making there debut both impacted, Alex could of scored second half if it wasn’t for a brilliant double save, and Dylon grabbing his first goal for the club, very good morning in south Bank and through to the new round 🏆

Good few shouts for player of the match this morning, but has to go to Uncle Long, Didn’t put a foot wrong when called upon at the 11th hour to go centre half, very calm on the ball him and Lacy were solid this morning as a pair. 🤝
