This is such great news for Stoke on Trent residents and the growing amount of cyclists from Racers to Commuters!
Getting more children with the basic skills to navigate the city and beyond is also vital, well done City of Stoke on Trent Council!

A further £12 million of government funding is being invested in walking and cycling routes across the city.
We're also expanding School Streets schemes, introducing more safer crossings and junction improvements and providing extra support for training programmes such as Bikeability.
The simple aim is to give people real choice in how they travel, while improving safety and reducing congestion.
The boost is part of an £105 million transport investment aimed at delivering better roads, more reliable buses and safer walking and cycling routes.

A review of this mornings club ride by Andy the wordsmith! It also goes to show that all bike types are welcome!
Great ride out this morning with Shento, Paul and Gav wheels rolling at a civilised 09:00 (because we’re athletes, not animals).
We pointed ourselves towards Blurton, rolled past Dougie Mac and took on the steady drag up to Rough Close a nice little leg awakener to remind us we’d chosen cycling as a hobby. From Rough Close we cruised along the B5066 towards Hilderstone, peeling off into the lanes just before the village. What followed was a cracking stretch of flowing, scenic roads the kind that make you forget about the hills and just enjoy the rhythm.
We meandered towards Fulford Lane, crossed the A521 and rolled into Stone like seasoned pros, parking ourselves at The Bear for the most important part of any ride: coffee and cake. Sat outside, soaking up the sunshine, it felt like we’d absolutely nailed the weather.
Refuelled and suitably caffeinated, we headed back out of Stone via Old Road. Another tidy climb up towards Oulton Cricket Club (because apparently we enjoy this sort of thing), a brief flirt with the A521, and then into the lanes towards Moddershall Oaks. A steady drop into Blythe Bridge, up towards Foxfield Railway, and then the day’s wildcard feature a flood in Caverswall. After a bit of careful negotiation (and minimal drama), we splashed through and carried on.
Park Hall led us down towards Bentilee Road, with Shento navigating… which, let’s just say, added an element of surprise to proceedings. A detour towards Saxon Fields introduced us to some “adventurous” paths where the tarmac mysteriously vanished. A spontaneous bit of cyclocross ensued much to Gav’s delight, as his MTB suddenly became the superior machine of the day 😂
Through Fenton Park and eventually rolling into Adrian Street Car Park, we wrapped up what turned out to be a top-tier ride.
Amazing weather. Great company. Hills, lanes, cake, floods and a cheeky bit of off-road thrown in for good measure.
You can’t ask for much more than that. 🚴♂️
Thanks for that Andy!

Stoke-on-Trent born athlete Ashleigh Nelson is going to her FOURTH Olympic games. She will compete in the two woman bobsleigh event at the Winter Games starting this week.
🏅 A multiple medal winner in sprinting, Ashleigh was part of the City of Stoke Athletics Club and has represented Team GB on the global stage, including at the Summer Olympics and World Championships. These achievements earned her a place in the Stoke-on-Trent Sporting Hall of Fame.
Last year, Ashleigh considered retirement due to injury, but she switched to bobsleigh and is now ready to shine at MilanoCortina2026. Her story of resilience is inspiring to us all and we wish her the best of luck!
