MONDAY!
Today marks the start of another diet phase for me. Not because I was 'bulking' and now it's time to cut; but more because since my photoshoot, followed by the arrival of my daughter and Christmas, my birthday, my son and wife's birthdays, a family holiday...I've definitely been a bit lazy and endulging far too much ð·
As much as I'm enjoying the extra strength, it's time to rein it in a bit; hit the gym hard and reintroduce some extra cardio...but lets start with some legs shall we?! ð
What's everyone doing with their Mondays? Getting after it I hope!

It was max test day for Chris and Jane in their deadlift class with me today!
Chris hit an impressive 160kg (with quite possibly some in reserve still), and Jane a big 117.5kg; at just about her absolute limit with that one! Absolute props to Jane for missing 115kg, then regrouping, getting in the zone and going on to smash that and then the 117.5 as well! ððž
This now gives us two things: a figure to work out percentage based sessions moving forward (although percentages aren't the be all and end all, for reasons that this post is too short to explain) and more importantly - a number to beat when the time next comes to test 1RM again! And I'm nothing but confident that they will both put in the work in the mean time and come away with a new PB when that day comes!
Great lifting from both! ðŠðž

Don't mind me just slowly drip feeding all of my photoshoot pics, you know, to appease the narcissist in me. I'll run out eventually - and then I guess then I'll have to do another one ðĪ·ðžââïļ or maybe a show? ðĪ
Anyway, I'm told my posts should be educational, informative, so yeah - want a decent back? Do a lot of lat pull downs. There's a reason it's the first movement everyone learns for their back. Yes there is a vast combination of grips to adopt, attachments, different variations etc. But if you're relatively new to this - just stick to these ððž Every gym has a simple cable pulldown (if it doesn't you need a new gym), so it's a great place to start.

Big shoutout to Jane, Jake and Dave for being part my first deadlift class yesterday at !
I had an absolute blast and loved getting to teach and share my knowledge on something that I love!
The guys did brilliantly; demonstrated good knowledge, lifted well, asked questions and took on my advice and followed instruction well! And I thibk all were able to take something away from the session in order to improve their deadlift going forward!
Hopefully all enjoyed it - they're all keen to come back for another and to learn more, so I guess that's something! ððŧ

Transformation TĖķuĖķeĖķsĖķdĖķaĖķyĖķ Thursday.
So this is what my 2023 looked like, March through to November! A little before and after from my photoshoot transformation. Although it wasn't really a photoshoot transformation, and I didn't really take any 'before' pictures as I didn't know I was doing the shoot until 4 weeks beforehand! So it's just a screen grab from a random video I found from around March last year. Which is roughly when I started cutting down ready for going away in the summer.
As a result the look I took to the shoot (looked better the day after, still losing sleep) wasn't a quick or aggressive transformation, more just a by product of cutting down for holiday, and then rather than coming home and piling it all back on like usual, introducing step counting, moving more, sleeping better and being sensible with my diet. So really this look was achieved with very little 'relative' effort, and between you and me, relatively little cardio! Sshh ðĪŦ
Also let this serve as a reminder that people who do sometimes look like the guy on the right, don't always look like the guy on the right! Sometimes they look like they guy on the left. Who was clearly getting a bit carried away now I look back! ð· But it happens, and I was still healthy and I was strong! And let me assure you also that I do not currently still look like Mr. After on the right! Christmas and having babies has seen to that! But that's ok too! He'll come back one day!
