Warrior Taekwondo We empower individuals of all ages to build confidence, discipline and resilience. Why Are We Different?

Warrior Taekwondo was founded in 2008 in Brown Edge, Stoke on Trent by Simon Jones as a way to pass on the benefits he had received from training in Taekwondo to his children. This quickly turned into a rapidly expanding Academy with two locations and many students. We teach the Korean art of Taekwondo under the rules of the WT (World Taekwondo). We teach Taekwondo as a Traditional Art, an Olympic Sport and a Practical Self Defence. When Simon was learning, classes were taught with all ages (kids & adults) and levels (beginners to black belts) in the same class, he felt that there had to be a better way.. At Warrior Taekwondo Childrens classes and Adult classes are taught seperately. Today, we help children and adults from all walks of life get a kickstart in the martial arts. Whether you are looking for solid self defense skills, a new hobby, or just want to get into better shape, we've got a class for that!

We don’t compare kids to each other at Warrior Taekwondo.

Some children pick up a kick in one session. Others need ten.

Both are winning as long as they’re a little better than they were last time.

That’s how real confidence is built.

Not from being the best in the room, but from seeing your own progress, week after week, and knowing you earned it.

Sessions in Burslem, Brown Edge and Hanley.

3 reasons Taekwondo children tend to do better at school 🥋📚

Spoiler: it has nothing to do with burning off energy…

1. It trains the same mental muscles used in the classroom.
Learning sequences of kicks and blocks builds working memory, attention control and cognitive flexibility. Those are the same skills your child uses to follow a lesson, remember instructions and switch between tasks.

2. It teaches self-regulation, not obedience.
Waiting your turn, following commands and bowing to the instructor all train impulse control. Children learn to manage themselves, not just do as they're told.

3. The belt system wires children for effort.
Every stripe and belt shows children that consistent effort produces real results, and that mindset follows them outside of Taekwondo.

Would you like to see it in action?

Why do children need to do hard things (and love it!)

We can’t make life easier for our children…

But we can make them stronger for life.

In every class, our students face small challenges, a tricky technique, a new stance, or earning that next belt.

And each time they overcome one, they realise:

“I can do hard things.”

That lesson changes everything.

Confidence grows.

Resilience builds.

And suddenly, they’re not afraid to try in school, at home, or in life.

At Warrior Taekwondo, we don’t just build martial artists.

We build unshakeable children.

Do you have a 5-year-old that won’t sit still?

Good, we don’t need them to.

At Warrior Tots, we don’t ask little ones to stand in lines and be quiet.

We give them something to do with all that energy, and every game has a purpose.

To them, it’s just fun.

To us, it’s focus, confidence, and school-ready skills, one game at a time.

Classes are for ages 4–7 in Stoke-on-Trent, and your first class is free.

No experience needed, and no worries if they’re shy.

Most of our Warriors were too, on day one.

Confidence building and great fun!!

My 4 year old son has been attending classes and absolutely loves it. He previously struggled to concentrate, but since starting Taekwondo he’s really thriving and looks forward to every session.

Simon, Beth and the whole team are fantastic with the children, patient, encouraging and great at building confidence while keeping the classes fun and engaging.

I can’t recommend them enough for anyone looking for a supportive and positive environment for their kids to learn Taekwondo.
