Another terrific effort by Terry and son Damon.
With a drop in the oxygen level at the middle pool Damon attended straight after work to assist in moving the splash aerator to the middle pool.ππ
Also, please note that the upcoming match at Baden Hall is now full.
**AGM & Match Update**
The following resolutions were agreed at AGM Monday August 10th.
1. To keep all waters. Please note we no longer have access to the first field at Meaford (first field as you approach from Stone/Meaford.
2. No increase in membership fees.
3. No changes in club rules. There was a proposal to allow 2 rods on the Bottom Pool this was defeated.
4. To widen participation of young people in the club it was agreed to reinstate the family day plus to run at least one match on the pools for under 16's. Gary Wooliscroft agreed to act as lead.
5. To keep current reciprocal agreements with other clubs if they are also in agreement.
Other items of note.
> Re water levels at pools there was some discussion as to whether the Middle Pool should close. However oxygen levels were still good 7.5 and fish were not distressed. If members see fish gasping for breath and in distress to contact Gary Wooliscroft or Terry Proctor asap. If necessary the splash aerator will need to be moved to the middle pool this would require at least 4 helpers at short notice. The bottom pool still good with a reading of 8.5 and temperature of 20.3 C, Top Pool low oxygen level @ 5.
> In response to a request from another club Simon Unitt to arrange meeting.
> There is the possibility that the Club may be approached to host a couple of sections at the
Division 1 national 2027 on the Shropshire Union Canal. This has implications for members and the club.
>There will be an enrolment evening for new members and renewals in October.
>Memberships for 26/27 will be available from October 12th. Pre Loved tackle to be approached again for their support in selling memberships.
MATCH RESULT
There was another very good double figure turn out to fish the R.Trent @ Swarkestone on Sunday. Expectations were low considering the hot dry, bright sunny weather. Surprising given that the river level was down there was good flow and depth as the match was split into 2 sections one above the road bridge and one below. Whilst conditions did not appear encouraging the river fished very well with 8 weights above 8lb being recorded. Leading the way from below the Bridge was hot shot Colin Barnes recording a hat trick of river victories. After starting on the pole he switched to stick float and maggot finding perch to 2lb, roach, skimmers and dace for a very good 15-12. The next 2 weights came from above the bridge Mark Wilton fishing waggler and caster put together a decent small fish net for 13-13. Fishing similar tactics kim Jones also managed a small fish net of 12-8 despite being plagued by pike. Mal B on peg 1 was also bothered by pike and even managed to land one of 10lb +, even so he put together a mixed bag of 9-6 for the last payout. A catch of note was Paul Walkden who weighed 8-12 comprising of small barbel to 8oz a good sign for the future. A very good days fishing on the Trent well done to Colin πand everyone who took part.
Best weights:
Colin Barnes 15-12-0
Mark Wilton 13-13-0
Kim Jones 12-8-0
Mal Boden 9-6-0
Neil Dale 8-14-0
Paul Walkden 8-12-0

Terry Proctor 8-0-0

Match Results and Fixtures
There was a good double figure turnout for the Sunday Club match on the canal @ Baden Hall. Again it was a hot bright sunny day and as expected most of the fish had moved to the far side which generally required a 14.5 or 16 metre pole. As per the last match the pay out format was agreed as first 2 and 3 sections.
There was no doubting the result when Rich Pedlar drew the favoured peg 10. Fishing double worm on the hook (honest only had 12 worms!) over pellet feed he caught steadily throughout to once again weigh in a very good 78-15. This was despite losing 5 big carp on his margin line to the left.
However the performance of the day belonged to Dave Mason on 15, unable to fish the pole at any length due to age and his sporting injuries (lifting a pint too often) he concentrated down the track. Fishing groundbait, red maggot and worm he found 15 bream to 4lb which with a handful of carp gave him 66-02 and runners up spot.
Ian Stangroom on peg 13 managed 3rd place and a section win with 61-09 fishing long at 16 metres he caught carp and a few F1's steadily for 61-09.
Kim Jones was best of the rest with 42-14 a mix of bream and small carp caught on corn @ 13 metres, just edging out Martin Dobson with 42-05. Another enjoyable day out in good company.
Best Weights:
Rich Pedlar 78-15
Dave Mason 66-02
Ian Stangroom 61-09 (section)
Kim Jones 42-14(section)
Martin Dobson 42-05
Joe Nicholls 36-13(section)
Chris Moss 27-04
Gordon Moss 24-14
Wednesday Sweepstake Bishton Pools
There was another full house for the match on this popular venue, a cooler day with a breeze blowing made for a comfortable match.
Rich Pedlar aiming for another back to back double was thwarted in the last minute as Kim Jones managed to land a 5lb carp in extra time to clinch the match.
Fishing on peg 1 kim had a slow start before switching to his left hand margin landing 12 carp to 5lb in the last 2 hours. Feeding pellets and swapping around hook baits he weighed in 50-09.
Rich Pedlar fishing opposite on 9 had a poor start losing his first 5 carp. Presenting 8mm pellets short he then caught steadily landing 13 carp which together with 8lb of silvers gave him 49-06 and runners up spot.
Phil James on 3 caught steadily throughout fishing worm over pellet he had an excellent small fish net of just over 30lb with the majority lovely crucians to 1lb, plus roach, skimmers and F1's.
Best of the rest in 4th place was Dave Mason with 22-03, he suffered from a fishless last couple of hours.
Another good days fishing well done to everyone.

Many thanks to Phil James, Paul Wheeler, Chris Last, Andy Stokes, Conrad, Peter Ward plus Paul, Harold May, Kim Jones, Geoff Cantrell, Dave Mason, Gary Wooliscroft, Maurice Cooke & not forgetting Terry Proctor. Great effort guys much appreciated.
Following the work party there was a helpers sweepstake on the Bottom Pool which once again produced some excellent consistent fishing with a good variety of species landed. Everyone fishing had at least good double figure weights.
Kim Jones drew peg 12 and made no mistake on this favoured peg. Fishing 11 metres towards the island and the margins he started slowly on banded pellet. Switching baits over pellet feed he then caught steadily rounding it off with a lovely 11-09 common in the last 15 minutes for a creditable 55-12.
Chris Last followed up last weeks performance with another good effort on peg 8, although it was a close call as he edged out Gary Wooliscroft. Chris had a very good mixed bag caught mainly on soft pellet and caster for 32-06. Gary on 16 had mainly F1's and carp to 6lb on pellet for 32-03 but kept his "hook em and lose them title" with 6 fish lost.
Last of the pay outs went to Terry Proctor with 28-06 . Another enjoyable day out in good company π.

Match Results
Sunday July 19th Bottom Pool
There was a full house for Sunday's match on the Bottom Pool. Good oxygen levels and reasonable water temperature enabled the match to go ahead with a 2 keepnet rule one for carp and the other for fish less than 2lb. Again fishing was very good with plenty of bites and fish for everyone the pleasing aspect was the variety of fish, apart from carp there were plenty of F1's, crucians, roach, skimmers, chub and small tench most weights were evenly split. It was 3 of the favoured pegs that produced the best weights Chris Last on 12 became Chris First securing a maiden club victory with a very good 43-10 fishing towards the island he fed casters up in the water where he had carp to 7lb plus 20lb of smaller fish. Kim Jones on 10 fished banded pellet at 11 metres to weigh 37-14 with another good mixed bag.
Martin Dobson on 4 caught mainly down the margin for a mix of F1's and small carp for 36-14, although it would have been a different story as he lost a very big double that smashed his top kit. Dave Mason gained the last pay out spot with 21-05 from peg 15. Another enjoyable day out well done to everyone who fished and Chris on his win.ππ
Best Weights:
Chris First 43-10

Gary Wooliscroft 15-03
Sunday July 12th R.Trent @ Baileys Meadow, Burton.
There was a very good double figure turnout for Sunday's river match. A bright clear day with the sun shining meant it was going to be a challenging match. This was especially so as the day wore on with paddleboarders, canoeists, swimmers and inflatable ducks invading the river making catching fish even more difficult. The match was dominated by small fish with roach and small dace being the predominant species. Colin Barnes on peg 15 continued his run of form on the rivers fishing the pole he caught mainly roach switching between casters and maggots for 7-9-0. Perry Guest on 5 also pole fished maggot over groundbait for a small fish net of 6-6-0. Mark Wilton was just edged out with 6-3-0 for 3rd place and a section win. Kim Jones registered a section victory and 4th place with 4-3-0. Well done to Colin and everyone who fished.

A great big "shout out" to club member Rob Vaughan π ππ
Rob contacted the club last week to advise he was unable to make the latest work party scheduled for Sunday 26th July, and providing we were in agreement, he offered to go and "do-a-bit" himself to tidy up the entrance/bridge to the pools.
Rob's even taken all the cuttings away and disposed himself.
A few before and after photos below.
Brilliant work Rob, thankyou π π
