Wedgwood FC travelled to Stone Dominoes FC’s Springbank Park in Yarnfield on the morning of 16 August 2026 for a 10:30am kick-off in a league away fixture against Dick Turpin. The match ended in a 1-0 defeat for Wedgwood, who battled hard but ultimately came up short in a tightly contested 90-minute encounter.

Wedgwood lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, deploying Steven Parry in goal behind a back four consisting of Jake Hart at right back, Jordan Coleman and Logan Mulland as central defenders, and Tom Birks on the left. The midfield double pivot featured Brandyn Williams and Jake Tunstall tasked with both defensive duties and initiating attacks. Ahead of them, Brad Gibson operated on the right wing, Brad Lewis played centrally as the attacking midfielder, and Tom Raketic took up the left attacking midfield role. Leading the line was Craig Cookson as the lone striker. The substitutes bench included Brian Kakanou, Kieren Forrester, Joseph Capewell, and Liam Harrold.

From the outset, Wedgwood sought to impose their game plan. Early on, Jake Tunstall demonstrated his vision with a long key pass in the fifth minute, aiming to unlock the opposition’s defence. Craig Cookson followed swiftly with an attempt at goal, though his effort sailed high over the bar a minute later. Steven Parry was called into action in the 11th minute, confidently catching a cross to keep Wedgwood in the contest.

Brandyn Williams tested the target in the 17th minute but his shot drifted wide, while Brad Lewis came agonisingly close to opening the scoring when his strike rattled the crossbar on 25 minutes. Despite Wedgwood’s pressure, it was Dick Turpin who broke the deadlock just before half-time, scoring in the 41st minute to take a 1-0 lead into the break.

At half-time, tactical changes were made as Kieren Forrester replaced Jake Hart at right back, and Brian Kakanou came on for striker Craig Cookson, signalling a shift in Wedgwood’s approach to chase an equaliser.

The second half saw Wedgwood pushing forward with renewed vigour. Kakanou’s early attempt in the 49th minute was well saved by the opposition goalkeeper. Brandyn Williams was influential around the hour mark, providing a clever flick pass in the 56th minute and making a crucial tackle moments later to regain possession. Jake Tunstall also contributed defensively with a timely tackle in the same period.

Williams continued to threaten with a shot saved in the 60th minute, while Kakanou twice tested the keeper’s resolve with saved efforts at 65 minutes. Brad Lewis and Jordan Coleman also had attempts on goal in quick succession at 66 minutes, both denied by the opposition goalkeeper.

Tom Raketic created a promising chance with a long pass in the 69th minute, shortly followed by another key flick pass from Kakanou in the 72nd minute that led to a scoring opportunity. Brad Gibson tried his luck twice but was unable to find the target, shooting wide on both occasions at 72 and 78 minutes.

Further tactical adjustments saw Joseph Capewell replace Brad Gibson in the 78th minute, and Liam Harrold come on for the injured Jordan Coleman at 82 minutes, as Wedgwood sought to inject fresh legs and maintain pressure.

In the closing stages, Steven Parry made a vital parry in injury time to deny Dick Turpin from extending their lead, but Wedgwood were unable to find a breakthrough themselves. The match concluded with Wedgwood narrowly defeated 1-0.

Brandyn Williams was named player of the match for his tireless work in midfield, combining defensive solidity with creative spark throughout the contest. Despite the loss, Wedgwood showed resilience and moments of attacking promise that they will look to build on in upcoming fixtures.

On the morning of 2 August 2026, Wedgwood FC welcomed Dick Turpin to the Wedgwood Sports and Social Club for a friendly 11-a-side encounter kicking off at 10:30am. Wedgwood FC emerged comfortable 3-0 victors in a match that showcased their attacking prowess and defensive solidity throughout the 90 minutes plus added time.

Wedgwood lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, deploying Parry in goal to marshal the defence. The back four consisted of Jake Hart at right back, Cam Gardiner and Jordan Coleman as central defenders, and Tom Birks on the left. In midfield, Jake Tunstall and Abdullah Khan held the central midfield roles, tasked with both breaking up opposition play and initiating attacks. Ahead of them, the attacking trio featured Brian Kakanou on the right wing, Henri Royals centrally as the attacking midfielder, and Tom Raketic on the left flank. Leading the line was Brad Lewis as the lone striker, expected to convert chances created by the attacking midfielders. Wedgwood’s substitutes included Liam Harrold, Ben Deakin, Saleem Mirza, Brendon Whitfield, Brad Gibson, Ricci Edwards, Qasim Ditta, and Owen Bott.

The match began with Wedgwood showing intent to control possession and territory. Early defensive interventions came from Jake Hart, who cleared danger inside the opening two minutes. Jordan Coleman demonstrated his vision with a long pass in the fourth minute, while Cam Gardiner was alert to block an attempt moments later. Parry’s distribution was also notable, as he launched a long pass to spark attacks at the fifth minute. Midfield dynamo Jake Tunstall played a key role in transitioning the ball forward, delivering a long pass in the sixth minute that was quickly followed by Brian Kakanou’s incisive long pass creating a clear chance.

Wedgwood’s right attacking midfielder, Kakanou, continued to impress with a clever flick at the 16th minute that set up a scoring opportunity, although Henri Royals’ subsequent attempt flew high over the bar. Defensive solidity was maintained by Abdullah Khan, who intercepted a threat at the 20th minute. Tom Raketic tested the opposition goalkeeper shortly after but was denied, and his injury forced an early substitution at 22 minutes, with Liam Harrold coming on to replace him.

The introduction of Harrold proved fruitful as he immediately contributed with a long pass creating another chance at 23 minutes. Tactical changes followed with Ben Deakin replacing Jake Hart and Saleem Mirza coming on for Abdullah Khan at 32 minutes, both aimed at maintaining Wedgwood’s dominance. Deakin’s long pass at 37 minutes kept the pressure on Dick Turpin’s defence. Just before half-time, Brendon Whitfield replaced Tom Birks, and Wedgwood finally broke the deadlock at 40 minutes when Harrold finished clinically with his right foot following a neat short pass from Royals.

As the first half drew to a close, Saleem Mirza’s effort was saved by the keeper, and further substitutions saw Brad Gibson replace Mirza and the injured Royals make way for Abdullah Khan again at 45 minutes. Wedgwood went into the break with a deserved 1-0 lead.

The second half saw Jordan Coleman assert himself defensively with a vital tackle and interception in the opening minutes. Brendon Whitfield’s flick at the 50th minute created another chance, though Brad Lewis’s attempt went wide. Harrold’s defensive contribution was also key, blocking an effort at 51 minutes. Injury forced another change at 54 minutes, with Ricci Edwards coming on for Coleman, who had been solid until then. Edwards promptly cleared danger at 55 minutes.

Wedgwood’s resilience was tested further when Ben Deakin had to be replaced by Tom Birks due to injury at 61 minutes. Brad Gibson’s attempts at 63 and 66 minutes showed Wedgwood’s continued attacking threat, though one was high and the other saved. Tactical substitution saw Qasim Ditta replace Harrold at 72 minutes, and Ditta soon made his mark by scoring at 77 minutes, assisted by Brian Kakanou, doubling Wedgwood’s advantage.

Parry was called into action with a crucial dive at the feet of an opponent at 81 minutes, preserving the clean sheet. Moments later, Kakanou himself found the net at 82 minutes to seal the emphatic 3-0 victory. Tactical changes continued with Owen Bott replacing Kakanou at 83 minutes, and Bott quickly involved himself with key passes at 84 and 91 minutes, the latter creating a further chance in added time.

In the closing stages, Saleem Mirza returned to the pitch replacing Jake Tunstall at 87 minutes, ensuring fresh legs in midfield. Wedgwood’s control and attacking intent never waned, and the match ended with a comprehensive win.

Jake Tunstall was named player of the match for his influential role in midfield, orchestrating play and contributing key passes throughout. Wedgwood FC’s fluid 4-2-3-1 system, combined with tactical substitutions and clinical finishing, ensured a dominant performance over Dick Turpin at home.

Wedgwood FC welcomed Bradwell FC to the Wedgwood Sports And Social Club on 26 July 2026 for a friendly 11-a-side match, kicking off at 10:30am. The hosts emerged victorious with a 2-0 scoreline after a competitive 90 minutes plus added time.

Wedgwood lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, deploying Ethan Wheeldon in goal. The defensive line consisted of Tom Birks at right back, Cam Gardiner and Ben Woolley as central defenders, and Alex Bayley on the left. Brandyn Williams and Kyle Johnson operated as the two central midfielders, tasked with both defensive duties and linking play. Ahead of them, the attacking midfield trio featured Owen Taylor on the right, Brad Lewis centrally, and Tom Raketic on the left, supporting lone striker Ryan Malbon. The substitutes named were Abdullah Khan, Qasim Ditta, and Liam Harrold.

From the outset, Wedgwood demonstrated defensive solidity and attacking intent. Early on, Ben Woolley cleared a header in the third minute, while Brandyn Williams delivered a long key pass creating a chance. Kyle Johnson attempted a shot shortly after, albeit over the bar. The defence remained alert as Cam Gardiner cleared danger in the fourth minute and Tom Birks blocked an effort at eight minutes. Alex Bayley also tested the opposition keeper with a high attempt at nine minutes, signalling Wedgwood’s attacking threat.

Goalkeeper Ethan Wheeldon was called into action at 12 minutes, comfortably catching a Bradwell effort. Wedgwood’s forward play gained momentum as Ryan Malbon provided a slide rule pass at 19 minutes, setting up Brad Lewis for a high shot. The midfield continued to orchestrate chances with Kyle Johnson and Brandyn Williams both delivering long passes at 25 minutes, creating openings. Malbon came agonisingly close to scoring when his shot hit the post at 26 minutes, followed by a long pass from Alex Bayley that led to another chance. Malbon’s subsequent effort was saved at 28 minutes.

A tactical substitution saw Abdullah Khan replace Owen Taylor at 33 minutes, shortly before Malbon and Lewis both had shots saved, maintaining the goalless deadlock. The breakthrough came at 39 minutes when Kyle Johnson’s long pass found Malbon, who struck a long-range right-footed shot into the net. Just three minutes later, Brandyn Williams delivered a cross that Tom Raketic volleyed with his left foot from distance, producing a spectacular screamer to double Wedgwood’s lead. The first half concluded with Wedgwood firmly in control at 2-0.

The second half began with Cam Gardiner intercepting a Bradwell move at 47 minutes, maintaining defensive composure. Malbon continued to press, but his shot was saved at 55 minutes. Tom Birks intercepted a threat at 56 minutes, while Raketic provided another long pass at 57 minutes, keeping Wedgwood’s attacking rhythm. At 63 minutes, an injury forced Malbon off, with Qasim Ditta coming on in his place.

Wedgwood’s midfield intercepted a Bradwell attack through Kyle Johnson at 65 minutes, and Wheeldon made an important interception at 68 minutes to thwart danger. Tactical changes followed with Owen Taylor returning to replace Kyle Johnson at 74 minutes, and Liam Harrold coming on for Abdullah Khan at 77 minutes. Ben Woolley intercepted a threat at 84 minutes, demonstrating defensive resilience.

In the closing stages, Qasim Ditta’s attempt was saved at 89 minutes, but Liam Harrold quickly responded with a long key pass and an interception, helping Wedgwood maintain control until the final whistle. The match ended 2-0 in favour of Wedgwood FC, who showcased a blend of defensive discipline and attacking prowess.

Kyle Johnson and Tom Raketic were named players of the match for their influential performances in midfield and attack, respectively, underpinning Wedgwood’s commanding display.

Wedgwood 2 - 3 fc Newcastle 2

Wedgwood go out short staffed again and pull off another performance that the result doesn't display....

Having been let down by a number of lads (apparently two were even parked up and ran off) struggling for a temporary keeper and one of their two keepers unwilling to play 90 minutes to save their legs, manager Gaz Abbotts sliipped into the orange to gave a cracking performance between the sticks, their keepers should be embarrassed that a man 40+ post heart attack, damaged knee and broken ribs put on the best display of goalkeeping today.

Starting the game again with only 10 men, not that you'd have known given we dominated the game and were first to put the ball in the back of net when Lucas played a cross to a new player Sal to bag his first for wedgwood.

10 minutes later they equalised from a shot no one would saved and scored again against the run of play, 10 minutes after fumble at the back saw them take the lead.

Second half started with Wedgwood having most of the possession again, Newcastle found a way to go 3-1 up with a defensive mishap finding the ball rolling into the back of the net.

All match the threat of Lucas on the wing causing them problems, when his deflected shot was poked in by new player liam...

Two new players scoring on there debuts.

Wedgwood dug in for the remainder of the match with only 10 men on the pitch, to pull off another performance to be proud of

Special mention to chairman Daz also for stepping on again to help us out.... 👀👀 new signing for next season.

Great performance and roll on next week when we play old rivals Bradwell fc jr7
