“Is the Vegan diet healthy?”

Huge love to Stoke-on-Trent Animal Rights for organising such an awesome event!!

At the start of my fitness and weight loss journey I'd never had a gym membership before and I was the heaviest I'd ever been at 16stone 4lbs (103Kg).

I'm not going to lie I was intimidated by the gym, I wasn't confident enough with my fitness or how I looked to step into a gym to train.

I wouldn't have had much idea at all of what I should be doing.

So I started with the Ministry of Sound - Pump it Up Aerobics DVD. Yep.

I did the whole session 2 or 3 times per week in my bedroom at home until I felt happy and comfortable that I wouldn't embarrass myself in the gym!

These days I can honestly say I love going to the gym, it has transformed my life, the way I feel and how I look. At my lowest I was around 12st 4 and now currently around 14st 4 so it's been quite a journey.

Here's the thing, if you want to make positive change you just have to start. Maybe where you start isn't where you want to be. It's not what you want to be doing but you'll fall in love with the process and who you become as a result of being consistent and showing up for yourself.

Start where you, use what you have, do what you can!

You will build momentum as you go, your journey will develop and you will grow and develop with it!

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this episode of the Happy Place podcast with Meik Wiking and Fearne Cotton!

If you're into pesonal and spiritual development and awareness you absolutely have to check this one out! I was actually doing some cardio on the stairmaster whilst listening to this show, I normally do 30-40minutes but I just had to keep listening so ended up doing 50 and then a further 15 on the x-trainer! THAT'S how good it was.

There were so many fantastic take aways and lessons from this one, but this is one of my favourites.

We build up an idea, an image of what we think we need to be happy. When I've got x I'll be happy, when I've achieved y I'll be happy, when I look like z I'll be happy.

Only once we achieve or acquire those things do we then shift the goal posts on ourselves and raise the bar for what we think we need to be happy and the cycle starts again.

We live in lack and frustration, longing for these things that we think we need to be happy when we have everything we could ever want already within us.

You are a truly unique and remarkable soul, traversing the mysteries of this human experience. Give yourself a damn break already.

Happiness is an inside job.

Comment below your favourite recent podcast episodes! I'm always on the look out for some new ones.

When you are unhappy with being overweight and want to break the unhealthy habits you have developed over time is hard, it sucks.

Maybe you struggle to find clothes you like that are also available in your size.

Maybe your favourite pair of jeans no longer fit.

Maybe you do really well during the week but on the weekends you struggle to stay on track.

Maybe you shy away from going out with friends for meals because you don't want to ruin the progress you've made so far.

It's also true that doing the things that mean you lose weight are also hard.

Maybe you don't want to count calories.

Maybe you don't know where to start with counting calories.

Maybe you're confused about what a calorie deficit is.

Either way it's dealing with things that are hard. The good news, is that you can choose which hard things you do.

The other good news is that I'd love to help work out which way works best for you if you want to lose weight and form healthy habits.

Comment below or DM me if you have any questions about weight loss or want to work together.

I'm looking to work with 10 people who are motivated to make positive change in their lives.

I want to understand at a deeper level the barriers you have to engaging in a healthy lifestyle and achieving your goals.

Of course in 6 weeks we aren't going to be able to achieve amazing results because I don't advocate un-sustainable change. What we CAN do, is get you off to a good start.

Why FREE? Well here's the thing, I want to develop strategies and programs that work for a wide range of people at different levels. I feel like one way to do this is to make an offer, see how it works for people - give them great value and then refine.

What you will receive:

- A consultation call/ conversation to discuss what your goals are, the barriers you experience, what you have tried before, successes and failures etc etc

- Basic training plan with some focus on your individual requirements

- Once per week check in to discuss a food diary, how you are progressing and of course a Q&A session.

What I'm asking from you:

- Open and honest discussion on barriers experienced

- Honest food diary entries

- Prepared to give feedback on what you like/ don't like in terms of approach and strategies discussed

- Ready to make positive changes and kick start your health and fitness journey.

If you are interested type "Me" in the comments below and I will get in touch with the first 10 people.

I'm looking forward to working with you ☺️✌️💚

We're all on a journey through life, we all have goals, dreams and aspirations.

The difference between who you are now and who you want to be is the actions you take.

Are you taking the actions that are getting your closer to your goals or are you treading water not really sure what to do next?

Get clear on who you want to be and put a plan in place to get there. Small consistently done actions will make all the difference.

I'm not an advocate for providing clients with meal plans. How do I know what meals you like and don't like?

My opinion is they are overly restrictive and can create an unhealthy relationship with food where you feel bad or like you are cheating on your diet if you have something that's not included in the plan.

I've actually experienced this myself when I had a meal plan from an online transformation challenge and posted a meal I made in the group. It wasn't strictly to the letter of the plan - I think I'd changed the veggies or added more and I received negative comments from the coaches. It was a ridiculous way to run promote healthy eating.

There is a world of difference between giving clients ideas of what you could eat, through sharing recipe ideas or the meals you have yourself and a prescriptive meal plan.

I advocate for a more sustainable approach where we agree a method for tracking the food you consume and a goal or target to measure progress against. Then it is the responsibility of the client to create healthy meals that achieve that agreed target.

This way you, the client are empowered to make healthy food choices, find recipes and experiment with what you like to eat. You'll learn loads more and will be much better prepared for when I am no longer your coach.

Comment below what you would write in the blank...

What are you waiting for?

Happiness can be an illusive thing. One moment we feel like we've captured it - the next it feels distant.

Are you waiting for a particular scenario, event or achievement to bring you happiness.

How would complete the blank?

Maybe one of these examples resonates:

- When I'm back to the same weight I was before lockdown I'll be happy

- When I'm in a new job I'll be happy

- When I'm in a relationship I'll be happy

- When I'm able to afford nice clothes I'll be happy

- When I'm fitter I'll be happy

If we give our happiness away to some future time, or to the achievement of something will we ever get to actually enjoy that happiness? Or will we simply create a new want or desire afterwards that we will pin our hopes of happiness to?

Being happy in the present moment, with life as it is will bring you so much more joy and fulfilment. Love yourself as you are. This also raises your vibration and shows the universe you are grateful for what you already have.

Having gratitude for what you already have will attract more of the same to you, you'll attract more happiness, fulfilment and love for yourself.

When you want to make changes to become healthier, it's important to understand what that actually means to you.

If you google search it, or browse social media you'll come across lots of different interpretations of what it means to be "healthy".

Taking the time to ask yourself what it means to you is likely to mean that the things you do will get your closer to your idea of healthy.

Without it, you might start doing things, or eating a certain way that someone else has said is healthy but it doesn't feel great for you.

Comment below what healthy means to you, I'd love to hear from you.

I'm sure you all know at least one person who loves to give out unwaranted health and fitness advice.

Then you find out they've been doing Slimming World or Weight Watchers or another program for years and haven't achieved their goals yet.

Hmmm.
