🛑🚗 WHY DO PUPILS FAIL THEIR DRIVING TEST AT A STOP LINE? 😬❌

A STOP sign means STOP — not slow down, not roll forward, and not just look both ways! 🛑👀
Many learners lose marks or fail their driving test because they do not understand what the examiner expects at a STOP sign with a solid white line. 🚘⚠️
Here are the most common mistakes 👇
❌ 1. Not stopping completely 🛑
Rolling over the line or coming to a slow crawl is not enough. You must bring the vehicle to a complete stop before the solid white line.
❌ 2. Stopping beyond the line 📏🚗
Even if the road looks clear, crossing the stop line before stopping is a serious mistake. Stop with the vehicle behind the line.
❌ 3. Treating it like a Give Way sign ⚠️🔄
A Give Way sign may allow you to proceed without stopping if it is safe. A STOP sign requires a complete stop, even when the road appears clear.
❌ 4. Failing to look properly 👀↔️
Stopping is only the first step! Check both directions carefully, assess the speed and distance of approaching traffic, and make sure you have a safe opportunity to emerge.

Never rush because you feel pressured by traffic behind you. Wait until there is a safe gap and you can emerge without causing another road user to brake or swerve.
❌ 6. Poor positioning or control 🦶⚙️
Stopping too far back to see clearly, then moving forward without reassessing the traffic, can create additional risks. If your view is restricted, move forward only when safe and where the road layout permits.

Nerves can cause learners to forget the basics. Take your time, stop correctly, observe carefully and make a safe decision.

🛑 Stop completely behind the solid white line.
👀 Observe carefully in both directions.
🚦 Assess the speed and distance of approaching vehicles.
⏳ Wait for a safe gap.
🚗 Move off smoothly and safely.
