๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿš— IMPORTANT DRIVER UPDATE ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿšจ

โš ๏ธ Many drivers are STILL unaware of a major Highway Code change introduced by the DVSA and Department for Transport.

๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ PEDESTRIANS NOW HAVE GREATER PRIORITY AT JUNCTIONS ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ

If you are turning into or out of a side road, you should give way to pedestrians who are:

โœ… Crossing the road
โœ… Waiting to cross the road
โœ… Clearly intending to cross

๐Ÿ›‘ This means you may need to STOP and allow the pedestrian to cross before completing your turn.

โŒ Donโ€™t rush through.
โŒ Donโ€™t assume the pedestrian will wait.
โŒ Donโ€™t pressure vulnerable road users.

Remember, pedestrians are among the most vulnerable people on our roads โค๏ธ

As driving instructors, we are now teaching learners to:

๐Ÿ‘€ Look early
๐Ÿง  Think ahead
๐Ÿšถ Anticipate pedestrian movement
๐Ÿ›‘ Stop when necessary
๐Ÿค Show courtesy and consideration

๐Ÿšฆ The DVSA expects learners to understand and apply these rules during lessons and driving tests.

๐Ÿ“– Highway Code Rule H2 states:

โžก๏ธ Drivers, motorcyclists, horse riders and cyclists should give way to pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross a road into which or from which they are turning.

๐Ÿšธ Safer roads start with better awareness.
๐Ÿšธ A few seconds of patience can prevent a lifetime of regret.

๐Ÿ‘ Please like, share and help spread awareness of this important rule change.

Many drivers treat an amber traffic light as a signal to speed up. According to the UK Highway Code, this is incorrect.

Rule 175 states that an amber light means STOP at the stop line. The only exception is if you have already crossed the line or are so close that stopping might cause an accident.

For learner drivers and those preparing for a DVSA driving test, remember:

๐ŸŸข Green = Proceed if the road is clear.
๐ŸŸ  Amber = Stop if it is safe to do so.
๐Ÿ”ด Red = Stop.

Good anticipation and planning are key. Approaching traffic lights at an appropriate speed gives you time to react safely and make the correct decision.
