The Isle of Man Youth Tour is always a highlight of the cycling calendar for nearly 300 Schoolboy’s and Girls, offering a rare and exciting opportunity for young riders to compete on closed roads just like the pros.
The atmosphere at the Villa Marina for the presentations is the perfect way to cap off the event, celebrating the hard work of the organisation , and the massive team of volunteers/ Sponsors who make such a large-scale event possible. It was nice to be asked to present some of the awards with Chris Lawless who rode this event himself in 2011 and went on the win the Pro Tour of Yorkshire for team Sky. I’m looking forward to the 2027 already

There’s a real buzz around the Isle of Man Youth Tour again this year — cycling jerseys freshly printed and riders arriving from all over the UK (and beyond) to take on one of the most prestigious youth stage races in Britain.

As in previous years, the 2026 edition will showcase the country’s best young talent, from Under-8s through to Juniors (under-16), continuing a tradition that’s helped launch some huge names like Mark Cavendish, Peter Kennaugh, Anna Christian, and Lizzie Holden.

Recent editions have been thrillingly competitive:

In 2025, over 260 riders took part, with standout performances across all age groups on the Ellerslie Circuit and Jurby Motor Circuit stages .
The event consistently forms part of both the British Cycling Youth Circuit Series , giving the winners a real springboard toward national squads and pro development teams .

So while it’s anyone’s guess who’ll pull on the Steam Packet Holidays leader’s jersey this year, history suggests a few names we’ll probably be hearing a lot more from in the next five to ten years will be crowned right here.

The Isle of Man has a knack for spotting champions early — who’s caught your eye so far in the youth scene this season?
