The bowling green is also open for members of any ability with their own bowls. Florence’s First Team has an average age of 25 years and is a strong up and coming team within the area. Some of their achievements include representing the county at the world club chamipionships in the past 3 years, last year they just dipped out to a team from birmingham in the semi finals. Winning the Sentinel & Senior cup numerous times and the F.S. Jones competition in 2003, 2004 2005, 2008 & 2012. There is also a very promising second team who are in the second division. There are also opportunities for novices in local divisions. If you are unsure of whether or not the game of bowls is for you but wish to try, feel free to pop down and meet our welcoming members who are more than happy to introduce you to the sport. We are due to have coaching for all abilities up and running soon enough! We also have Indoor bowling facilities, Snooker, Pool, Darts, Crib & Chess teams If you wish to join a team please come to the club. Achievements on a National Level:
Adam Jackson (17years) was the runner up in junior parks individual merit in 2005 (Liverpool). Jon Price won junior parks individual merit two consecutive years at the ages of 16 and 17 in 2006 and 2007 (once on the home turf of Florence and again in Bradford) . Pete Hulse Jnr (31years) won senior parks individual merit 2010. Phil Clarke won veteran’s merits in 2006. Achievements on a Local Level:
Ladies have played in 1st division in local league and in the past some ladies have represented the county team. Matthew Fellows won the potteries and district amateur league merit 2011 and 2012. John Large was a member of Florence for 40+years in that time he become Hon. Treasurer, Secretary and Club Manager until his passing in August this year. He worked tirelessly, completely committed to the club and helping give Florence the status it has today. Many members come to the club for the social aspect and the unique banter found only at Florence Tennis and Bowling Club.
