💙 OUR TEAM, OUR MISSION 💙

Drowning Prevention Week maybe over, but we'd like to recognise our fantastic team who work every day to help swimmers build confidence, competence and respect for the water.

From first splashes to independent swimming, every lesson helps develop skills that can last a lifetime.

We're proud to play a part in helping our community become safer and more confident around water.

Thank you to all our swimmers and families for supporting water safety awareness this week.

💙 Confidence
💙 Competence
💙 Safety

🌊 DROWNING PREVENTION WEEK 🌊

Float to Live.

If you unexpectedly find yourself in difficulty in the water, try to remember:

💙 Tilt your head back with your ears submerged
💙 Relax and control your breathing
💙 Move your hands gently to help stay afloat
💙 Once calm, call for help or swim to safety if you're able

It's a simple skill, but one that could make a life-saving difference.

Do you know the Water Safety Code?

The Water Safety Code helps everyone enjoy water safely by remembering four simple steps:

🟢 STOP and think
🟢 STAY TOGETHER
🟢 FLOAT
🟢 CALL 999 in an emergency

Whether you're at the beach, a lake, a river or a swimming pool, taking a moment to think about safety can make all the difference.

👕 DROWNING PREVENTION WEEK 👖

What would happen if you unexpectedly entered the water fully clothed?

Swimming in everyday clothes feels very different. Wet clothing becomes heavy, movement is more difficult, and you can tire much more quickly.

That's why one of the most important water safety messages is:

💙 Stay calm
💙 Control your breathing
💙 Float!

🚩 DROWNING PREVENTION WEEK 🚩

Do you know what these water safety flags mean?

Whether you're visiting the beach, a lake, or an outdoor swimming venue this summer, understanding safety signs and flags can help you make safer choices around water.

Before entering the water, always:

✔️ Check local safety information
✔️ Follow warning signs and flags
✔️ Swim in designated areas where possible

Being aware of your surroundings is an important part of staying safe around water.

It's Drowning Prevention Week, and our theme this week is Water Safety. 🛟
Throughout the week, we'll be helping our swimmers build important lifesaving skills and sharing simple tips that can help keep children safe in and around water.
Because learning to swim is about more than strokes...it's about confidence, awareness and staying safe. 💜

We’re so proud of our teacher Leah, who is currently out in Kenya on a charity trip with the amazing team from Derby County Community Trust. 🌍💙

Leah is working alongside local schools to help improve education and the school environment, taking a hands-on role both inside and outside the classroom. From supporting curriculum development to helping with construction projects such as painting, building tables and equipment, and improving drainage systems for better sanitation, every task is helping to create safer, brighter spaces for children to learn and thrive.

This trip is all about creating opportunity and helping provide a route out of poverty through education and community support, and we couldn’t be prouder to support her on this incredible journey.

When Leah returns, we’d love for our swimmers to ask questions and hear all about her experience firsthand! 💬✨
