Hey folks.

First of all apologies for things being a bit quieter on our social pages. As a club we have been finding our feet again the last few months without our Head Coach, but the boys have kept up the training and the progress.

On Saturday two of our own, Charles and Nils Engebretsen, competed in the Edinburgh BJJ Open with Charles bringing home Gold in both Gi and No - Gi, and Nils bringing home Silver in Gi.

Absolutely class stuff lads.

We couldn't be prouder of the boys!

We're very thankful to The Fitness Studio for providing us a space to keep doing what we are doing.

And we are particularly thankful to our Head Coach John Devine. It's a testament to his coaching, his ethos, and the legacy he has left on the island.

Hopefully the start of many 🙏

As a club we are deeply saddened to inform you all that our Coach John Devine sadly passed away on Tuesday evening.

Obviously everybody here at the club is shocked and deeply saddened by what has happened. John was a smashing guy and an amazing coach. Despite being an absolute monster on the mats, John was one of the most humble and chill people you could ever have the pleasure of being around.

It's hard to overstate just how much John, the club, and his coaching meant to us all. John created something so special in SY-BJJ, and his enthusiasm and love for the sport was something that was very much reciprocated by the club members. We always appreciated the great privilege of his coaching, and his company. For many of us the time on the mats, with him at the head, was the absolute highlight of our week. We were so lucky to have him, and we are going to miss him greatly.

Although it will never be the same, the club will continue in his honour, and we will do our best to make him proud.

Thank you so much for everything John.
