It is with a very heavy heart that we have to tell you that our beautiful Mum, Gwen passed away last night.
Myself and Karen are absolutely heartbroken. 💔.
Mum was such a big part of my dancing school & has touched the lives/hearts of many of my pupils childhoods, whether it be taking their money, doing the tuck shop, tying ballet ribbons (sometimes tying ribbons so tight, their ankles turned blue) 🤣. Sticking beards on the panto dwarfs never to come off!! Selling raffle tickets, getting them exam/show ready & just having time to chat.
Mum had a lovely day on Sunday, using her brand new wheelchair for the first time and having a visit from her school friend Betty.
However on the following day, Mum became very poorly, not recovering from a chest infection and other issues.
Her carers were amazing that day (as they have been since they came to us). But we knew an ambulance needed to be called.
She was taken to hospital and there she deteriorated.
Yesterday we received a call from the hospital saying we needed to get there asap. Rallying some of our wonderful friends, Alison, Emma and Sue (and Cath the day before) to look after Bella, we got to the hospital.
We were with our Mum from 11am to the time she passed (9.55pm). We showered her with love, kisses and hugs throughout, playing music to her and spoke of lots of memories. She knew we were there and smiled when we spoke. But she was very poorly. She fought so hard and has been since November since her initial fall. But her weak body couldn’t fight anymore. We held her hands, stroked her hair and showered her in ‘we love you’ and kisses as she fell asleep. She is now with our beloved Dad, her Mum & Dad, Bailey, Benji and Rusty who we know we all take good care of her. She is out of pain now and that is some comfort, but you all know Mum, she was such a loved person whom we will never get over loosing. Team Yates is now just us two and our Bella. She was a special person in many peoples lives and we are comforted by all the messages and cards we have already received. We have so many people to thank, Alison & her family, Emma, Sue, Cath and many more whether it is help with Doggy sitting, or making meals. Thank you for all the wonderful friends who have visited mum. We have the best friends in the world and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We thank the wonderful group of carers who have looked after Mum each day since February. Please raise a glass tonight and/or light a candle for our beautiful, wonderful, precious Mum 🌈❤️🌈❤️🌈❤️🌈

What a lovely AGM today for our DDA dance association. All my pupils gained grants, Daisy was placed 1st in the classical memorial trophy, Roma 2nd in the cabaret section & Anouska & Ella did exceptionally well in the junior contest. A wonderful contemporary class was taken by Kaitlyn which everyone loved. Thank you to everyone who attended & everyone who helped (Jordyn & Alison). A wonderful day. I’m a very happy, proud dance teacher. Xx
