The Home of Rugby in Stourbridge Stourbridge RFC is a members owned rugby club. The Club also has a Colts XV and a thriving Minis, Juniors & Girls section.

Stourbridge Rugby First XV plays in National League Two West, Panthers - ladies team in NC2 midlands (West) and 2 social adult teams. Stourbridge Lions RFC XV plays in Midlands One West (North)
Our home at Stourton Park is also the home of British Police Rugby and is a great venue for any event.

🏆 A PROUD MOMENT FOR STOURBRIDGE RUGBY!

Following last week's 29–14 victory over the French Nationale Municipal Police in Marseille, our Director of Rugby, Neil Mitchell, is pictured proudly holding the inaugural trophy alongside fellow British Police Rugby Directors.

Joining Mitch are Andy Ward, former Assistant Chief Constable of Merseyside Police, and Nick Bracken OBE, former Commander of the Metropolitan Police and CEO & Chairman of Police 4NPR.

A fantastic achievement for British Police Rugby and a particularly proud occasion for Stourbridge, with Mitch joined in Marseille by fellow Stourbridge representatives Jake Baldry, Will Barradell and Andy Tomkins.

🏉 WEDNESDAY MINI & JUNIOR ROUND-UP – A VERY SPECIAL WEEKEND FOR STOURBRIDGE RUGBY!

🎉 150 YEARS OF STOURBRIDGE RUGBY – WE NEED OUR MINI & JUNIORS!
This Saturday, 31st October, we're celebrating 150 years of Stourbridge Rugby Club, and we'd love as many of our Mini & Junior players and their families as possible to join us at Stourton Park.

Our First XV take on Moseley Oak at 3pm, a particularly fitting fixture as we believe they were our opponents in the club's very first match back in 1876.

We've got a few special things planned, and we want our youngest members to be right at the heart of the celebrations...

🏉 GUARD OF HONOUR – We're inviting our Mini & Junior players to form a guard of honour as the First XV take to the pitch.
🍬 SWEETS FOR EVERYONE – There will be sweets for all our Mini & Junior players who come along!
📸 ONE HUGE CLUB PHOTO – After the match, we're hoping to gather as many players, members, families and supporters as possible for one very special photograph to mark our 150th anniversary.

🍽️ FAMILY-FRIENDLY PRE-MATCH LUNCH – Our special anniversary lunch is open to families too, with children's meals available for £12. And don't forget, all our pre-match lunches are family-friendly, so we'd love to see more of our younger members joining us throughout the season.

🏉 150TH ANNIVERSARY GAME WEEK - SATURDAY 31ST OCTOBER
It's a very special weekend at Stourbridge Rugby as we celebrate 150 years of our club, with three senior sides in action and plenty happening at Stourton Park!

🏉 FIRST XV - HOME v MOSELEY OAK - 3PM
Five wins from five and our First XV are back at Stourton Park this Saturday, looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season.

And what a fitting fixture for our 150th anniversary celebrations, as we welcome Moseley Oak, believed to have been our opponents in the club's very first match back in 1876!

We're hoping to make Saturday a day to remember, bringing together players, past and present, members, supporters and families to celebrate everything that makes Stourbridge Rugby Club so special.

🦁 LIONS - AWAY v NEWPORT (SALOP) - 3PM
Our Lions head to Newport looking to build on another encouraging performance last weekend, when they battled back from 14–0 down to earn a 19–19 draw against Burntwood in dreadful conditions.

The lads are getting closer to that elusive first league win, and they'll be determined to take another step forward on Saturday.

🏉 HOPPERS - AWAY v GREYHOUND RFC - 3PM
Our Hoppers are also on the road, travelling to Greyhound RFC following last weekend's hard-fought 24–12 loss at Ludlow 2s.

They'll be hoping to carry that momentum into another strong performance this weekend.

🏉 HOPPERS PLAYER OF THE MATCH – ANDI PARSONS🏆
LUDLOW 2NDS 24–12 STOURBRIDGE HOPPERS

💪 A well-deserved Player of the Match award for Andi Parsons following Saturday's game against Ludlow IIs.

With so many strong performances across the pitch, picking just one standout player was no easy task.

🗣️ Hoppers Captain Mike Steven explains why Andi got the nod:

"Man of the Match was tough to call as so many players put in good performances and it was very much a combined team effort.

However, Andi got the nod as best player for ferocious tackling and aggression in everything he did.

It's unbelievable to think it's been just 10 months since he broke his leg. Well done Andi."

👏 From a broken leg just 10 months ago to putting in a performance like that. What a comeback!

Congratulations Andi, thoroughly deserved!

We look to this weekend now where the Hoppers are away at Greyhound.

🏉 FIRST XV MATCH REPORT - LUTTERWORTH 8–12 STOURBRIDGE
FIVE FROM FIVE FOR STOURBRIDGE - It wasn't pretty, but sometimes the hardest-fought victories are the most satisfying.

Our First XV returned from Lutterworth with another four valuable league points on Saturday, overcoming both a determined home side and some truly horrendous weather conditions.

🗣️ Director of Rugby Neil Mitchell described the conditions as "the most atrocious conditions I have seen for quite a few seasons."

🌧️ Playing into driving wind and rain, Stour spent almost 35 minutes of the first half pinned inside their own territory. Despite Lutterworth having the wind firmly behind them, some outstanding defensive work kept the hosts scoreless until the very last play of the half, when a somewhat dubious penalty gave them a 3–0 lead.

💨 Hoping for the wind at our backs after the break? No such luck. It had changed direction and was now blowing straight across the pitch.

Lutterworth continued to battle, using their home advantage well, but Stour refused to give in.

🏉 Will Barradell crossed for his debut try for the First XV, with Jack Teague adding the conversion, before Dan Rundle's winning try helped Stour secure a hard-earned 12–8 victory.

💪 In conditions that made expansive rugby virtually impossible, it was a performance built on determination, commitment and a refusal to give in.

🗣️ Mitch reflected on the performance:

"Probably one of the most resilient efforts I've seen in all my time at Stourbridge."

"Although the score doesn't suggest it, and it wasn't the most dynamic game to watch, I was very impressed with the resilience and commitment of all my players."

He also acknowledged just how far this side has come:

"Games like this in the past, Stourbridge would have probably not seen it through, but to get a victory and four points in these conditions, I was very impressed and it bodes very well for the future."

🦁 LIONS MATCH REPORT - STOURBRIDGE 19–19 BURNTWOOD
Another step in the right direction for our Lions on Saturday, as they battled to a 19–19 draw against Burntwood in some truly dreadful conditions at Stourton Park.

Here's Lions coach JJ's assessment of the afternoon.

💬 JJ'S MATCH REPORT
"A hard-fought draw against a tough and astute Burntwood team, in dreadful conditions, was another step in the right direction for this Stourbridge Lions team, as they move ever closer to a first win this season.

Tries from Captain James Dallison, 19-year-old debutant Tom Thatcher Wynne and a late, controversial effort from George Cattell provided the points, with the extras supplied by James Westwood from the boot.

Stourbridge were 14–0 behind after 30 minutes, but a fantastic ten minutes of phase play, organisation and patience brought two excellent scores, and Stourbridge seemed well set at 12–14 to win the game comfortably, with the wind in their favour.

Burntwood, however, had other ideas and scored first in the second half. They generally played the conditions better, with excellent ball retention and tactical play, although Stour had field position for the majority of the half.

Player of the Match Harry Wooldridge, on his return from Rome, was all action and provided go-forward, but Stour were error-strewn and struggled again in the set piece throughout the half.

Burntwood avoided a yellow card and penalty try after an intervention from their inside centre, but soon after, George Cattell cleverly weaved over to level the game.

Two minutes remained and a poor kick-off receipt nearly allowed Burntwood a match-winning opportunity, but Stour stood firm and a draw felt good for all concerned.

Newport away next and momentum can build."
