🌿 Introducing Alternative Provision at Claydons

For some young people, the traditional classroom simply isn’t the environment in which they learn best.

That doesn’t mean learning has to stop.

At Claydons, we’ve seen first-hand how spending time around horses can create opportunities for young people to connect, engage, build confidence and develop practical skills — often without the pressure they may associate with a classroom.

We’re therefore really pleased to introduce the Claydons 12-Week Equine Alternative Provision Programme here in Warwickshire. 🐴

This is an important next step for us, bringing together our experienced equestrian environment with a structured programme designed to support young people through routine, responsibility, relationships and practical learning.

Across a 12-week placement, young people can take part in activities including horse care and stable management, practical yard tasks, teamwork and communication, confidence-building activities and working towards individual goals.

📚 And learning at Claydons can lead to recognised achievement too.

Young people will have the opportunity to work towards selected AQA Unit Award Scheme units during their placement, including Basic Animal Care: Equine and Mucking Out an Equine, with further units available depending on the individual.

The aim isn’t simply to spend time with horses.

It’s to use a different environment to help a young person reconnect with learning, experience success, develop confidence and begin recognising what they are capable of.

Our 12-week structure gives young people time to:

CONNECT → ENGAGE → GROW → REFLECT

We’re now welcoming conversations with schools, SENCOs, pastoral teams, Local Authorities, parents, carers and other professionals who feel a young person they support could benefit from this approach.

No previous horse experience is required.

Our Half-Day Own a Pony Day has SOLD OUT next week! 🎉 So, if your child loved their last half day with us and has been asking to stay for longer… this is their chance! 💕

We still have spaces available on our FULL Own a Pony Days:

⏰ 9am – 3pm
💷 £100 per child
🐴 Ages 5+

They’ll get to experience what it’s really like to have a pony of their own for the day – spending loads of hands-on time at the yard, including:

🐎 Riding
🪮 Grooming & pony care
🧹 Yard jobs & learning how to look after their pony
💗 Plenty of pony cuddles
🎉 Games, activities and lots of fun with other pony-mad children!

These days are perfect for children who just can’t get enough of ponies – and with the half day already sold out, we’d recommend grabbing one of the remaining full-day spaces quickly!
