Avon Bowling Club

Saturday saw members compete for the first internal club trophy of the season, the Bill Crutchley Triples Shield. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon played out in the continuing sunshine of Summer 26.

This month, Stratford Leisure Centre announced their sponsorship of the Club.

Specsavers have been long standing sponsors of Avon Bowling Club. They sponsored the installation of a defibrillator on the exterior of the club 5 years ago. They have now kindly sponsored a replacement battery for this life saving device. Club members have recently been trained by West Midlands Ambulance Service in basic life saving techniques. The defibrillator is an essential requirement for the local community. Specsavers have ensured that this vital asset will continue to be available to the community of Stratford-upon-Avon. Rapid access to cardio pulmonary resuscitation alongside the use of a defibrillator has been proven to save lives.

Avon bowlers teamed up with representatives from Knights Fine Jewellery, Specsavers, The Samaritans Stratford Upon Avon and Bartolotti Premium Barbers for a friendly, competitive game of bowls.

Thanks to everyone who participated, especially those who stepped in to fill some unexpected gaps, to those who came to support and those who organised, refreshed and refuelled us all.

Congratulations to Knights who took home the trophy beating the Samaritans in the final.

2026 marked the 102nd Mayor's match, played on Thu 09-Jul-2026 in glorious sunshine. Always a popular occasion where Avon Bowling Club Members host a competitive friendly against a team from the Mayor's office led by our Club President, Sam McNaught Barrow. With almost 30 guests, games were played across 5 rinks and the result was once again (un)surprisingly!! a DRAW

Shout out to Clopton Catch for supplying the food for our club social Fish & Chip Supper.
Another great event for members, their families and friends.
