A super, if a little chilly, start to our Mini Winter Rallies. Great to see some new faces. Well done everyone for some determined riding. Everybody then practised leading ponies in hand and standing them square, and understanding all the times you might have to do this. We finished it all with hot chocolate and marshmallows. Thanks to Laura for great coaching and thanks to the Young family at Overton for use of the beautiful facilities. ☀️

🏆🥇 A FINAL WINNERS! 🥇🏆

Huge congratulations to Lily, riding her new pony Bentley, and Alba McDonald from Daimler Pony Club, riding Hazel, who competed in the Cumbria Pony Club Senior Pairs today and brought home 1st place in the A final! 🎉🐴

What a brilliant result—and a fantastic start for Lily and Bentley’s new partnership! 👏

Well done to both girls and their fabulous ponies. Lots to celebrate tonight! 💙🏆

What great fun in the autumn sunshine at our full day rally totleywells. Lots of fun and great riding with some super xc riding to finish the day off. Great to have some of our friends from Linlithgow and Stirlingshire Pony Club there too. Huge thanks to our brilliant coaches Pauline and Gemma for their enthusiasm and encouragement! Well done everyone!

What a brilliant weekend to mark the end of the season at SHOYS for our games teams🎉. The outstanding stars of the weekend were our Juniors, Olivia, Lexi, Orlagh, Anna & Maia, who have progressed amazingly this year, finishing 2nd on both days . Our seniors, Abbey, Evie, Lily, Eva & Scout, also raced well placing 3rd on both days. Both teams were also delighted to be placed 3rd in their respective tack & turnout competition.
SHOYS is always a competition of mixed emotions as it marks the end of the Senior Games for our older members- well done to Evie who has been in our teams for several years and now moves on to Pairs. But it was also very sad as both our Junior and Senior coaches are stepping back. Huge thanks to Yvonne Gilroy who has coached the Juniors with great enthusiasm for the last 6 years and helped co-ordinate most of our games activities! Don Frame steps down after an amazing 17 years of being involved with our games teams. Both Yvonne and Don have given up huge amounts of their time- very often not managing to see their own children compete- to ensure our members have the best experience. Volunteers such as these are the backbone of Pony Club and we are so very grateful to them.
Games has not gone to sleep for the winter- we are holding an Intro to Games clinic in November for all Area 1 and 19 clubs and we will also be holding monthly basic games skills workshops on Thursday evenings- watch out for those dates!
Well done everyone!

📚 30 Oct – Unmounted Theory
🎯 8th Nov - Introduction to Mounted Games – open to Area 19 clubs

📚 13 & 27 Nov – Unmounted Theory
📚 11 Dec – Unmounted Theory
🎄 13 Dec – Festive Flatwork Rally with Liz Love OR Festive Fun Mini Rally

📚 THEORY & MINI RALLIES

These sessions will cover many of the Pony Club badges recommended for Quiz and Horse & Pony Care competitions, while also building knowledge towards the Pony Club test syllabus.

So even if Quiz or H&PC isn’t your thing, there’s still loads to learn and achieve! 🐴📚

🎯 INTRODUCTION TO MOUNTED GAMES

We’d LOVE to see plenty of our L&U juniors giving this one a go! 💜

It’s open to all Area 19 clubs and aimed particularly at juniors and novice seniors, with the emphasis firmly on FUN and developing games skills.

It’s also a chance to encourage more riders and clubs to get involved with Mounted Games – and we may need some of our L&U juniors to help demonstrate a few skills too! 👀🐎

⭐ BONUS: The Flatwork Rally will run AFTER the Games session, so you can book both and make a full day of it!

🎄 In December, the Festive Flatwork Rally and Festive Fun Mini Rally will run at the same time, so you’ll need to choose which one you’d like to attend.

👀 AND WE’RE NOT FINISHED YET…

We’ll be adding Showjumping training and are busy working on a few more activities too!

📲 Everything currently published is available to book NOW on Horse Events.

Please get booked in early where you can – it really helps us plan instructors, groups and future activities.

💜 Lots to learn, lots to enjoy and plenty of Pony Club fun to look forward to! 🐴🍂
