🎤 Coach Liam: “What a day! ⚽️ 13 goals in 5 games, we topped the league unbeaten!!

❤️ The lads should be all super proud of how hard they fought and pushed today! Some tremendous team work today and all played with amazing confidence!

⚽️ Such a shame to go out on penalties, but they can hold your heads high, knowing you tried their best and did it with grace and pride!

😊 Me and Anth or over the moon with the progress they making as a team! Lets keep getting stronger!!

🎤 Coach Mark: “Another fantastic tournament day for our U9 Whites.
We started the day against our friends, Whitburn Panthers Reds, and after leading three separate times, the game finished in a draw, a fair result. We then followed up with 3 wins before finishing the group stage with a draw. That left us joint top of the group with our close friends, the Reds, who edged first place on goals scored. Keeping 3 clean sheets in 5 games was especially pleasing.

♥️ In the semi-final, we faced a team we'd already beaten in the group stage. We took the lead but conceded two late goals, exiting the competition to the eventual tournament winners.

👏 Another brilliant day for the boys, who continue to raise expectations and are becoming a very difficult team to beat at this level. There's still plenty to work on, but the progress they're making is fantastic. Another top day for these little stars! “

🎤 Coach David “Proud of our U10 Blacks today, in a very high level NCJ tournament, we were plate runners up.

We came 4th on goal difference in a 6 team group; winning 2, drawing 1 and losing 2 💪

After going behind in the semis, we went on to win on pens and the final went the same way except this time we lost on pens 😔

♥️ Great experience against some high division sides and we completely held our own keeping 3 clean sheets and conceding no more than 2 in any game. “

Coach John “Great team effort today, they all worked so hard for each other, they are encouraging each other on the pitch and when they’re waiting on the side and they all come off smiling so we couldn’t ask anymore of them.

👏 Toby and Joshua made some great saves and their kicking it really improving. 👏 Olivia and Freddie were brilliant at the back with their blocks and tackles and showing their strength.
👏 Finn, Theo and Toby work hard up and down on the wings and Theo in particular some brilliant dribbling and skills on the ball and Isaac and Elijah with two very cool finishes for our goals. ⚽️

Player of the Match 🏆 Oliver for none stop running up and down the pitch and for two lovely through balls to assist the goals.

☄😍 COMETS FESTIVAL 12 July 2026 😍☄

🎤Coach Jonathan: “It was a great day at the inaugural Comets festival hosted by County FA today and a glimpse of what’s to come with more events planned throughout the year. Now that we know what they’re like we can plan better for the next one.

👍We played in mixed teams with other comets reasons from Gateshead Rutherford FC and Spennymoor FC.

🫶Special shout out to Charlie who won a special recognition from the FA for joining in and integrating onto a team where he didn’t know anyone.

🏝We will now go into a summer break as a result of holidays and the pitches being closed for maintenance and will start back with the clubs fun day on 6th September. Enjoy the summer break and see you in September”

⚽️ MATCH REPORT - U8 blacks ⚽️

🎤 Coach John: “tough game today against a good Washington United team with some high level players playing for them.

👏 We started a little slowly and conceded a few early goals but I thought we grew into the game. I can’t fault their work ethic and particularly second half they never stopped trying. Some nice combinations up front from Oliver and Isaac ended in a great goal.

♥️ Hopefully they keep their heads up and don’t get too upset about the results, there’s plenty to work on in training so let’s see if we can keep improving each week.

Our volunteers are attending a Comets & Wildcats Festival this week instead of the normal sessions at Oakleigh.

Existing parents using the Heja app - the schedule has been updated with details, it would be great to see everyone there, this is an event facilitated by Durham FA for comets and wildcats providers across Durham FA, it’s informal activities rather then organised games. Would be great to see everyone there ! 👍
