Sunderland West End U13s are absolutely buzzing to announce that our striking sensation *Luke Bell* has been officially offered an 8-week trial with *Sunderland AFC* 🔴⚪

Luke has been with us for 12 months and in his first season hit 38 goals 🤯
He also picked up Manager’s Player, Player’s Player AND Parent’s Player — that tells you everything about the lad and the calibre we’re talking about.

We are proud to announce that one of our players, Joe Hugil, has been invited to sign a professional contract with York City FC.

Joe has been a rock at the back since joining West End, bringing real quality, composure, and leadership to the team. Never one to look under pressure, he consistently kept opposition strikers quiet and firmly in his back pocket.

Although Joe has only been with us since the turn of the year, he quickly became a key member of the squad. His presence on and off the pitch will be a massive miss, both to the team and his teammates.

We wish Joe and his family all the very best in this exciting next step of his journey — it’s a fully deserved opportunity.👏👏

Joe follows our other former players who have went on to sign pro contracts, Leo Owens, Archie Pearson, Joshua Shane, Jack Rowell, Carter Punton, Noah Little, James Paxton and Jake Nicholson.

End of Season Update – Under 12s (2025/26)

It felt like this season would never come to an end, with fixtures literally frozen during a long, cold winter and many games having to be rescheduled. However, this morning the Under 12s finally closed the chapter on the 2025/26 season, finishing 3rd in the league and runners-up in the League Cup.

This achievement is even more impressive when you consider the challenges faced along the way. We lost players to academies, had players attending trials, and in some fixtures—including this morning—we only had 8 players available. To add to that, we played the final six matches without a recognised goalkeeper.

Despite all of these obstacles, the lads remained focused, professional, and committed throughout. Their resilience, effort, and attitude have been outstanding, and they should be incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved.

The team has certainly earned a well-deserved break. We will regroup and begin preparations for the 2026/27 season in September, and keep an eye out for some exciting new additions to the squad.

We would also like to say a massive thank you to all the parents, who have been first-class all season in their support for both the players and coaches—your backing has been invaluable.

Finally, a big congratulations to Hetton Inter, our league and cup winners—thoroughly deserving champions.

We are pleased to announce that, following an impressive eight‑week trial, Jake has officially been offered a two‑year professional contract with Carlisle United.
Jake is a model young professional who is a pleasure to work with. He gives 100% in both training and on matchdays, and fully deserves this fantastic opportunity. He will be hugely missed by his teammates, coaches, and parents at Sunderland West End, but we are incredibly proud of his achievement.
Jake’s final game for Sunderland West End will be the League Cup Final this Saturday, where he will have the chance to finish his journey with the club on the pitch.

Sunderland West End U12s are extremely proud to announce that James Paxton has been officially offered a pre end-of-season 2-year contract with Middlesbrough Football Club.

James has been with the team for just 16 months but has been a vital part of the teams success in winning multiple tournaments and finishing runners up in the league last season. Middlesbrough have kindly allowed James to finish the season of with us.

This is a fantastic achievement and a true reward for James’ hard work, dedication, and commitment, both in training and on matchdays. Everyone at Sunderland West End is immensely proud to see one of our players take this exciting next step in his football journey.

We would like to congratulate James and his family on this well-deserved opportunity and wish him every success as he continues his development with Middlesbrough FC.

The under12s played in the RFYL league cup semi final on Saturday against Blyth Spartans with a point to prove after a disappointing result in the last outing against them. The game plan was a simple one work harder than them and go on the attack and score goals!

The lads settled quickly into the game keeping possession and putting the Blyth defence under pressure, this paid off as Olly burst into the box only to be brought down PENALTY........up steps James to put the ball beyond the keeper and into the net ⚽

With the boys having control over the match dictating the pace of the game it was not long before the second goal and with Olly being the quickest to react in the box to roll the ball over the line after a mix-up with the Blyth defence and keeper⚽ Olly wasn't finished and with some brilliant play from westend from the back to the front and when the ball came to him in the box he slotted the ball into he bottom right hand side of the goal giving the keeper no chance ⚽ With the boys in full flow Luke latched onto a ball that split the Blyth defence and buried the ball into the bottom corner ⚽

HT 4 - 0

The team talk at half time was simple keep doing what we were doing! and straight from the kick-off Blyth gave the ball away, the ball was played to new signing Owen Cunningham on the right hand side who crashed home a low drive from out side the box ⚽for the remaining 25mins SWE continued to dominate the play creating chances, Blyth did get a goal eventually in the last minutes though a long ball pumped forward from the keeper a slip from our defender and the Blyth striker had only the keeper to beat and finished well ⚽
