A fantastic week of tennis, with players of all ages and levels competing, supporting each other and putting on some brilliant matches.

🏆 A huge congratulations to all of our winners, runners-up and everyone who took part. There were some fantastic performances across all the events, and you should all be incredibly proud.

🎾 BECOME AN LTA PADEL REFEREE! 🎾

Tennis World & Middlesbrough Padel Club are hosting an LTA Padel Referee Course this September!

With padel continuing to grow rapidly across the region, this is a fantastic opportunity to develop your knowledge, gain an officiating qualification and become part of the expanding padel competition workforce.

📅 Course dates:
Wednesday 9 September 2026
Wednesday 30 September 2026

⏰ Time: 9:00am–5:00pm on both days
📍 Venue: Tennis World, Alan Peacock Way, Middlesbrough, TS4 3SA
💷 Cost: £100
🏅 Credits: 6 Coach & Official Credits

The course will cover:

✅ Rules of padel and fair play
✅ Refereeing duties and court supervision
✅ Managing on-court disputes and challenging situations
✅ The Code of Conduct
✅ Tournament organisation and experience
✅ Safeguarding at competitions

Successful candidates will be eligible to referee at county-level padel tournaments and court supervise at higher-level events once their LTA Official Licence is in place.

Applicants must be aged 16 or over and live in the UK. Previous competition-organising experience, or completion of a Competition Organiser or Court Supervisor course, is recommended.

Well… yesterday the weather decided to join in at the County Closed! 😂☔️ Safe to say, a few players got more than a little washed out!

So, we’ve decided this is the new official format for the Durham & Cleveland County Closed…
Racket in one hand, umbrella in the other and just crack on! 😂

The players certainly deserve a mention for battling through the rain and keeping the tennis going.

And with summer nearly done, we’d better make the most of the sunshine when we see it! 😂☀️

Day 4 brought plenty of sunshine, fantastic tennis… and even some complimentary Pimms for the spectators! 🍹😎

Another brilliant day at the Durham & Cleveland County Closed, with great matches, plenty of smiles and lots of memories being made on and off court.

A fantastic match that went all the way to a match tie-break, with Leo & Will taking it 10–5! 👏
