North East Sport Dragons

Today the Dragons impressive winning streak came to an end in a good competitive game, where we at least managed to keep our unbeaten streak 💪

We played CLS Dynamos who started as the brighter team, taking an early deserved lead.

We did ride our luck a little with Jack in goal pulling off some good saves and Brad being solid at the back.
At the other end Jacob coming agonisingly close when Brad’s through-ball found him and somehow the ball hit the post and rolled along the line (we definitely thought it wasn’t going to be our day) and with Delano also going close shortly after. Half-time and we were 1-0 down.

At half-time we reminded the lads of the importance of working hard as a team and trying to get our passes flowing.

We started the 2nd half strong but unfortunately went to 2-0 😢

Some teams might have folded and put their heads down but not us! 🐉 Jack started the move which spurred the comeback with a big kick out of his hands to put Theo 1 v 1 and he coolly finished in typical style ⚽️ Then Max had a cross/shot which crossed the line but the ref didn’t see before Jack showed his bravery saving a certain goal by putting his body on the line 💪
Nicklas then played Max in expertly which he just missed….he did get his goal though when he equalised from an awkward angle to get us a point and also earned himself POTM from the opposition coach ⚽️🏆

Jack- Saved us a few times today with a solid goalkeeping display.
Brad- Mr Reliable at the back and showed his eye for a long pass numerous times throughout the game.
Jacob- Unlucky not to score and got into some great positions in attack before doing a stellar job at the back.
Nicklas- Was all around the pitch today, unlucky not to score and assist working hard for the team defending as well.
Delano- Great at winning the ball back today and very dangerous dribbling with the ball.
Theo- Awesome goal to get us back into the game, working hard winning tackles.
Max- Constantly a threat down the right, creating chances for his teammates and getting our equaliser - our POTM

Today we again played a new team in what was a mis-match (no fault of our own or theirs!) and it gave all our players the opportunity to express themselves which they certainly did!

A quick highlight for every player…
Jack- excellent one touch stanchion finish for the Dragons no 1
Brad- great left foot finish from edge of box
Jacob- great inswinging finish from the left wing
Delano- dangerous crosses all game from our POTM providing assists and goals and defending solid 🏆
Theo- cruyff one touch flick goal from cross.
Max- top corner volley off cross
Nicklas- long range strike from the left wing straight into the roof of the net

We definitely had our shooting boots on today and the league decides who we play, so it’s out of our control but fair play to our opponents who kept their heads up all game and never gave up! We wish them the best for the rest of the season 👏

Well done Dragons and an extra well done to our opposition’s POTM, Delano, who played all over today, scoring a few but more importantly.. great decision-making when passing to players in better scoring positions which was reflected with his assist output 🐉
