Hi Everyone,
For the past month or so myself, Howard McCain and Jamie Westwater have held several zoom meetings with former England stars Alan Cooke and Nicola Deaton with a view to Imagine Table Tennis Club hosting a Table Tennis Training Camp at the Beacon of Light.
Iβm delighted to inform you that these discussions have been very successful and I can now confirm that a date and format of the day have now been agreed - please see attached poster for further details.
This is a fantastic opportunity for players to learn from the very best England have to offer. Alan and Nicola have been Mens and Womanβs England Champions respectively on numerous occasions, Commonwealth medalists and participated in the Olympic Games. They will be joined by a further 2 experienced coaches who will support them in delivering a very well structured training camp.
Expressions of interest are to be directed to myself via [email protected] - there are 36 spaces available for the 1st camp. If the training camp is over subscribed a reserve list will be kept should a player be unable to attend and those unsuccessful will be given first opportunity to attend the 2nd camp.
Thanks - Chris (Chairman imagine ttc)

πππ24 hour Table Tennis Marathon / Fundraising Event - looking for participantsπππ
Burnmoor Cricket Club in Association with Penshaw View (and table tennis league player Alan Atkinson) is holding a fund raising event on 23rd September 2023 for Business Beats Cancer.
This is part of Cancer Research and ALL funds raised will remain in the North East of England.
Amongst other activities, a Family Fun day is organised for Saturday 23rd September from 12 noon. The Table Tennis Team (formerly The Old England) have lost 2 dedicated players due to bowel cancer and other teams in the Sunderland and Northumberland leagues have also lost dear friends, colleagues , players and family members to cancer and cancer related issues. We feel this is an extremely worthwhile charitable cause. To help raise funds, the table tennis team have organised a 24 hour table tennis marathon challenge from Friday 22nd September 2023 at 4pm to conclude on Saturday 23rd September 2023 at 4pm.
Iβm sure you all think this is a really worth while cause particularly by being able to do this in memory of 2 fellow table tennis players who are sadly no longer with us due to this terrible disease.
If you would like to participate in the 24 hour table tennis marathon please contact myself and I will provide you with more details.
A fundraising page has been set up and the link to this page is detailed for anyone interested in kindly donating or sponsoring the event:

Just a quick reminder that our club session returns to normal this Friday ready for the start of the new league season. Hope to see you there! ππππ
30/08/2023
As you may recall this Fridayβs club session is cancelled. This is due to the full hall being used for the North East TT Masters which is held annually on the same weekend each year.
The hall is being set up around 5pm Friday night. The organisers of this national tournament has kindly offered that any club members who come along to help set up the hall can enjoy a free practice that night. There will be no proper club session as such but you will be able to use the tables for free.
Any queries please message me or Shirley Gelder.
Thanks - Chris (imagine ttc Chairman)

ππ π Imagine ttc were delighted to support the βActive Sunderland Employee Physical Activity Dayβ today which was held at the new City Hall, Sunderland.
A good turnout of staff from the City Hall and other sporting clubs from across the city helped to make the event very enjoyable.
All the Staff attending the day were great sports giving table tennis a try as well as the other activities on show.
I am really looking forward to welcoming those staff (and their families) at Imagine Table Tennis Club sessions at the Beacon of Light sometime in the future.
At the event I was also really pleased to have been introduced to and talk to Steve Cram who provided us all with amazing memories in his glory years in the 80βs where he was Commonwealth, European and World Champion, Olympic Silver Medalist and broke many world records!
Finally thank you to Active Sunderland (Laura and Andrea) for the opportunity to deliver the session and also a huge thank you to Charlotte (imagine ttc Coach) for giving up her time to provide demonstrations and coach the staff participating in the table tennis activity.
