City Dance Academy is a part time dance school in association of NCDTA int. Irene is an qualified teacher with Northern Counties Dance Teachers Association.
City Dance Academy was founded in 1986 by Rowena Gilchrist who was joined by Irene Smith the following year. Rowena retired leaving the school to Irene in Easter 2004 and she has continued to teach since then. Irene is assisted by her two student teachers Rachel and Amy. In the past pupils have participated in many shows at the Sunderland Empire, Whitley Bay Playhouse, Durham Gala Theatre and Cust

We had an amazing time at our Musical Theatre workshops with the fantastic today! Students were taught choreography from Shrek the Musical and Burlesque the Musical. We had so much fun. Huge thank you to Nathan for popping in to see us on his day off ❤️ Best of luck for the rest of the tour # # #

Today our students participated in a circus workshop with former CDA student Shelley. They had an amazing time and learnt some great new skills in preparation for our upcoming show 🎪 Huge thank you for coming to visit us 💜
