Lionesses 4 – 3 Darlington

What a way for the girls to finish off the season, 7 unbeaten 👏

A really competitive and physical game this morning. At times we made it look easy, but we also made things hard for ourselves in spells.

We started well, the girls trying to work on movements we've been working on in training and it wasn't long before that paid off with a great through ball and run from Vi before finishing well.

The long ball managed to get through and let Darlo back into the game, then right on half time, a scramble in the box fell kindly and Amalie managed to force it over the line with pretty much the last kick of the half.

Into the second half, we knew exactly what was coming and prepared the girls for the long ball. Fair play to Darlington, they really put us under pressure and we struggled to get out for a period, which led to them finding 2 goals to level it.

With just 2 minutes to go, we gave away a free kick in a dangerous area. I won’t lie, there were a few nerves but within 60 seconds of it being taken, Amalie found space, drove through, and scored the winner with the last kick of the game 💪

As I said to the girls, we made hard work of the 2nd half, but good teams find a way to win even when it’s not going their way and that’s exactly what they did today. Massive credit to them for not giving up and going right until the end!

🏆POTG went to Lydia, outstanding today, covered so much ground and supported the team brilliantly in tough defensive moments

🏅PPOTG went to Violet a constant threat with runs in behind, and some good battles with the Darlo defence, fully deserved her goal

Happy International Goalkeeper Day! 🧤⚽

Today we want to give a special shoutout to our very own Lacey. Stepping up from her usual position on the left wing when the team needed her most, she has been nothing short of fantastic in goal.

Her performances have brought real calm and confidence to the team, and she’s gone above and beyond, acting as an extra defender and sweeping up when it matters most 🙌

It takes courage, commitment, and a strong mindset to put on the gloves, and Lacey has shown all of that and more.

Whilst we’re shouting out our number 1, Lacey, a huge well done to all goalkeepers up and down the country who are brave enough to stand between the sticks, you are truly appreciated!

Well done to everyone involved 👏

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Lowery's Lads 0-2 Black Cats of Italy 🇮🇹

A great game contested between two incredible sides ends in defeat for The Lads, as the Italian Mackems come away with a worthy victory!

Heroics from both goalkeepers, and some rather questionable finishing from the home side ensured the scoreline remained fairly normal after what was a thoroughly entertaining game of football!

That said, we are thrilled to confirm that with the online target already surpassed (£1,285 at the time of posting), and with cash donations still to bank and send, this event has truly surpassed all expectations once again!

Washington Lionesses 2 – 3 RCA Lionesses

What a game this morning, a brilliant watch and another big step forward for our Lionesses.

Coming up against a strong Washington side who have beaten us comfortably in the past, the difference this year is clear. This group is growing, maturing and playing some really good football.

We went behind early after a long ball held up in the wind and caught us between defence and keeper and we were punished, but the response was excellent.

After about 10 minutes, the girls settled, got on the ball and started to take slight control in what was a competitive game playing with real confidence. That pressure paid off with a great finish by Macy-Leigh.

Then just before HT, Amalie produced a moment of quality bringing the ball down on the corner of the box, lifting her head, and curling a brilliant shot into the far top corner with pretty much the last kick of the half, 1-2.

At the break we made a few changes and fair play to every single player coming on they all put in a proper shift topped off by Tamera who then got on the end of a fantastic cross to lob the keeper and extend our lead.

We created a few really good chances but couldn't quite put the game to bed, then a long range effort somehow found its way through to make it 2-3. I thought the last 10 minutes were going to be nearvy, but the girls showed real maturity, game management, discipline, and determination to see the game out and a fully deserved win 💪

Very physical against some really big players and a constant problem for the Washington defence throughout

Very strong performance, calm on the ball and drove forward when the opportunity was there. The Washington strikers really struggled with her pace and strength.

Well done girls, but very well done team. They all worked together to earn that win!

Lionesses 5 - 2 Darlington

A fantastic Easter result for the girls, they definitely earned their chocolate eggs today!

This was always going to be a tough game against a physical Darlington side who have picked up some really strong results on both Saturdays and Sundays since we knocked them out of the cup back in February. But from the 1st whistle, the girls showed them no respect and frustrated them throughout.

We played some brilliant football at times, creating chances from all over the pitch. Amalie’s shooting boots were absolutely on fire today, the Darlington defence just couldn’t cope with her energy.

Although I thought we were the better side throughout, there was a big moment at 2-1 that could have changed the game. Lacey pulled off a fantastic save, tipping it round the post for a corner. From that corner, we broke quickly and Amalie scored her 3rd, a massive moment in the game.

Darlington just couldn’t handle our forward players today, but credit to every single one of the girls from front to back, they all put in a proper shift and played some great football.

🏆 POTG went to Amalie, finishing was brilliant today, took her chances really well and caused constant problems throughout.

🏅PPOTG went to Izzy, a great debut, very composed on the ball and picked out some fantastic passes. Slotted in like she’s been here all season.

Great session with the girls tonight.

We decided to switch things up and headed to Goals for some 5 a side and it was absolutely brilliant for them.

5 a side gives the girls so many more touches on the ball and really pushes them to make quick decisions. It’s amazing to see how much it helps their movement, passing, and communication in those tight spaces. You could really see their confidence growing as they got more involved, tried new things, and supported each other throughout the games.

Loved seeing the creativity, teamwork, and energy they brought today. Sessions like this make a huge difference and most importantly, they had a blast! 🙌⚽️💪
