Great turnout for opening day considering its a home match for sunderland. Was absolutely brilliant to be back on the green again.

Massive thank you to the members who turned up to help and support the club over the past few days.
We have had 2 massive games held on our green this week, firstly on Tuesday evening we had the final of the 3-2-1 competition.
This came down to the last bowls of the evening in a close tie between Seaham Town and Barnes Park with the latter retaining the title.

Wednesday night saw a last 32 national top club tie being played between Darlington RA and St George's dragons.
As expected, the scores on all games were extremely close with Darlington taking the victory 4.5-0.5 and booking their place in the last 16 of the competition.

And thanks again to the members who turned out and also to Lisa(greenkeeper) for making the green as good as it is.

Don't forget its a Midweek Wrong Bias Special coming up tonight (fingers crossed) its the last 32 of the Bowls England Top Club as two of the regions top clubs (see the pun 🥹) go head to head in what should be a cracker.

After a very close opening 11 ends with the scores level, a calamitous 2 ends with a 4 dropped in each end put the Usworth pairing of brian poulter and steve copeland in control against Michael noble and Keith doyle in the silver jacks.
With ends running out, lying 5 shots on the 17th end a brilliant last bowl from steve copeland to take shot ended any hopes of a comeback, going into the last end and as per the rest of the game Keith was on the jack with a front toucher, needing either 7 to draw or 8 to win was an impossible task as the Usworth duo were never far away.
