Jaissle unsurprisingly on good form today after Newcastle’s excellent start to the season and super end to the transfer window that saw the arrival of Matias Fernandez-Pardo.

The head coach reacted to Newcastle’s transfer window talked about the signing of the the Belgian from Lille and whether he’d feature for NUFC v Bournemouth, talked Yoane Wissa and Anthony Elanga and reacted to Nick Woltemade leaving on loan.

And after the legend John Anderson said he wanted a poster of Amar Dedic on his wall, he’s that good, I asked Matthias how impressed he’s been with the Bosnian’s start to his Newcastle career.

Six signings for Sunderland with money spent on top talents like Malick Fofana and Dayann Methalie, while there were clever additions in Kevin Danso and Thomas Meunier too.

Definitely quality over quantity for SAFC this transfer window - with some excellent work from Florent Ghisolfi and Kyril Louis Dreyfus behind the scenes to not only attract top young talent to the Stadium of Light - but also keep the core of the squad together after such a good 2025/26 season.

Really interested to see how Fofana and Methalie adapt to the Premier League - two absolutely top signings from Ligue 1 - while the signing of young Juan Riquelme Angulo ahead of Manchester United and Barcelona shows how far Sunderland have come as a club & Jules Ahoka is one for the future.

Eight signings. Over £260 million spent. It’s been a busy summer for Newcastle United in the transfer window - especially after losing tbs likes of Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali, Anthony Gordon and Kieran Trippier.

But Ross Wilson and David Hopkinson have done an incredible job to bring in the likes of Nico Gonzalez and Matias Fernandez-Pardo, while players like Lukas Hornicek, Amar Dedic and Sean Steur have so much potential.

Is that one of the most dramatic Deadline Day sagas in history? Malick Fofana has finally completed his move to Sunderland after an incredible day of twists and turns.
