Wearside Golf Club

Wearside Golf Club hosted its annual Captain’s Weekend in June 2026, delivering three days of golf, laughter, friendly competition and community spirit.

The weekend featured three different competitions each day, with a wide range of fun prizes on offer. Members and guests enjoyed the course in good weather, shared plenty of memorable moments, and got behind the event with great enthusiasm — including a fun fancy-dress appearance from Fred Flintstone! Wearside Scratch Open

Congratulations to Michael Calvert of Wearside for winning the inaugural Wearside Scratch Open with a gross score of 69 and wins £500
Second place went to Aaron Scott of Heworth with a gross 71 and wins £300
Third Place went to Luke Bonser of Consett with a gross 72 (C/B) and wins £150
The nett prize went to David Vest of Wearside with a nett 72 (C/B) and wins £150

Special congratulations to Jackson Kneeshaw of Rockliffe who had a hole in one on the first using a gap wedge believe it or not and wins a bottle of malt whiskey, well done.

We hope that everyone who took part enjoyed the course and facilities and hope to see you all again next year.

Congratulations to our own Millie Hixon winning the 2026 North England Women’s Amateur Championship 🏆

Millie began the week with an excellent opening 70 at Goswick Golf Club, before rounds of 74 and 71 here at Seaton Carew saw her finish level par across 54 holes, earning her a five-shot victory.
