🌱 COURSE MAINTENANCE UPDATE – THE WORK HAS BEGUN! ⛳️

We’ve now started our tee box maintenance programme at Sutton Bridge, with the aim of getting our tees into the best possible condition.

It’s been a great team effort already, with our green staff, committee members, club manager, members and volunteers all getting stuck in. A special thank you to everyone who has given up their time, brought along equipment, helped with the heavy work or simply got stuck in wherever needed. 👏

The first tees have now been worked on, seeded and top dressed, with 1st, 3rd, 5th and the red tee 4th underway/completed. The next priority is 6th and 9th, followed by 8th, with 2nd, 4th and 7th.

🚧 Temporary tees and mats

As part of the programme, some tees will temporarily be moved onto alternative positions or mats while the work takes place. This is important to give the newly worked areas the time they need to establish properly.

We appreciate everyone’s patience while we carry out the work and we’ll get the tees back in play as soon as they are ready rather than rushing the process.

We’ve also installed three new mats on the driving range, which are already making a big difference. 👍

🙌 WE NEED MORE VOLUNTEERS!

One of the biggest strengths of Sutton Bridge is the willingness of our members and volunteers to get stuck in and help look after the course.

If you have a few hours to spare, whether you’re experienced with course work or simply happy to lend a hand, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re particularly hoping to get some help with the 6th tee this Friday between 3pm and 6pm.

No specialist skills are required — just bring yourself, some enthusiasm and a willingness to help. Every pair of hands makes a difference.

Our aim is simple: to keep Sutton Bridge in the best condition we possibly can, while maintaining the character, history and unique features of our fantastic old course.

We want to continue making golf accessible, enjoyable and welcoming for everyone, while protecting the history and character of a course that has been part of Sutton Bridge for more than 100 years. 💚⛳️

🏌️‍♂️ Seniors Invitational Open Day – A Fantastic Day at Sutton Bridge! 🏌️‍♂️

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make our Seniors Invitational Open Day on Tuesday 5th August such a great success. It was a fantastic day for the club, with plenty of great golf, good company and a brilliant atmosphere.

A special thank you goes to our sponsor, Leesons Garage Ltd, for their generous support of the event. We really appreciate your continued support of Sutton Bridge Golf Club. 👏

Even more importantly, the day raised an amazing £720 for St Barnabas Hospice, along with two cash collection buckets. ❤️

A massive thank you to all our club members, visiting players and everyone who donated to the charity, provided raffle prizes or bought raffle tickets. Your generosity made a real difference and helped make the day about much more than just golf.

⛳️ HOLE IN ONE! 🎉🏌️‍♂️

Forget the drama of yesterday’s round ball… today is all about a moment that Jesse Varnham will never forget! 👏

Our young member Jesse has recorded his first-ever hole in one on the deceptively tricky 107-yard 2nd hole at Sutton Bridge Golf Club! 🕳️🏌️‍♂️

Unfortunately, Dad wasn’t filming the shot itself… but he did capture the incredible celebrations afterwards, and they’re absolutely worth watching! 🎥🙌

Sutton Bridge Golf Club is looking to recruit an experienced Full-Time Greenkeeper to join our dedicated team.

If you have a passion for producing high-quality playing surfaces and take pride in maintaining golf courses to the highest standards, we’d love to hear from you.

The successful applicant will ideally have:
✅ Previous greenkeeping experience (essential)
✅ Knowledge of turf management and golf course maintenance
✅ Experience operating and maintaining ground care machinery
✅ PA1 & PA6 pesticide spraying certificates (desirable)
✅ Chainsaw certification (NPTC/LANTRA) (preferred)
✅ A strong work ethic, reliability and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
✅ Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends and seasonal hours when required
