🎯 Visualise the startline. Did it start on line? Or did it just not start high enough? Without feedback, you can’t diagnose the miss — and low‑side lip‑outs become a mystery. Give yourself information so you can actually improve.

⚠️ Your short game starts with the takeaway.
If the club goes inside early, direction becomes a guess — not a skill.
Key checkpoints:
• First move stays parallel to the target
• Lead arm and club form a straight line
• No early inside motion off the ball
Control the first gear, and everything else gets easier.

🔥 The biggest short game mistake I see? Too much hands.
When you flick the club, you might hit one decent shot — but the loft and speed are impossible to control consistently. That’s why great short game players use their body to move the club, reducing variables and producing predictable results. Control what you can, and your consistency around the greens will skyrocket.

Nothing beats coaching on the course.. Why ? Being able to react and set plans for further development. Seeing your players grinding to make a score, win a tournament is tough from the sidelines. Caddying for them is even harder, but means you can react to their thoughts, emotions and challenges in real time.
I’ve never underestimated the importance of a good caddy but switching roles from coach to caddy for a handful of tournaments this year with has not only given me greater insights, but also challenged me to be a better coach by looking at the game from a different angle. I’ve played competitive golf over the last few years to remind myself of the feelings a player has trying to make a cut, execute a challenging shot and even hole a winning putt (both successfully and not). But being part of a players team really comes alive when you get to jump on the bag and experience first hand what they are going thru. I’m not switching roles, but working with elite players ‘on the bag’ expands my role and helping them on the course is all part of being the best coach I can be for them.
