🏑Junior hockey is back!

We’re excited to welcome our Mighty Pinks back for the start of the 2026/27 season on Sunday 6th September.

Sunday morning training will take place at Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School and Wyndley, with familiar faces returning and new players joining us for the season ahead.

Welcome Back to Hockey!

Wednesday 2nd September, 6-8pm at the Clubhouse

With the start of season approaching, members and prospective members are invited to the Clubhouse next Wednesday 2nd September for our welcome back evening. This is open to everyone across the womens, mens and juniors sections of the club.

Please come any time between 6 and 8pm where there will be a number of club representatives on hand to answer any questions and share information with you.

There will be information about transition from junior to senior hockey and beyond. A number of new rules are coming in this season which will be shared as well as information about coaches, captains and committee members for the 2026/27 season.

This is also a great opportunity for you to be able to order/purchase kit for the coming season.

If you are interested in volunteering within the club, you can speak to members about how to get involved.

You are welcome to stay for as long or short a time as you want to and we look forward to seeing you next week!

The Future of Hockey on TV Starts With You – A message from Rich B**r, CEO England Hockey

Dear Hockey Community, 

Today, I’m delighted to announce that every England, Scotland and Wales match at this summer’s FIH Hockey World Cup will be available live and free on Channel 4 Sport YouTube.  

This is a huge opportunity for hockey. 
At a time when many Olympic sports, and the recent Commonwealth Games, are finding it harder than ever to secure free-to-view coverage, Channel 4 has backed our sport. They’ve invested because they believe hockey deserves to be seen by more people. 

Now we need the hockey family to help and to show them they were right. 

Two years ago, you answered a similar call when the Olympic Qualifiers were broadcast on BBC Sport. The response from our community helped open the door to what followed - two seasons of free-to-view England internationals on Channel 4 Sport YouTube. 

Now we have another opportunity: the FIH Hockey World Cup lasts just two weeks, but what we achieve together could shape the future of hockey on television for years to come. 

Today, our England internationals regularly attract between 12,000 and 15,000 live views. We know that consistently reaching more than 50,000 would fundamentally change the conversation about hockey’s future on television. That isn’t a challenge for England Hockey alone. It’s a challenge for our entire community. If we can get there together, we’ll have demonstrated beyond doubt that hockey can attract national television audiences. 

Every time you press play, you’re casting a vote for hockey on national television. 

So here’s my challenge to you all: 
Don’t just watch, encourage others to watch, talk about the the World Cup, shout about it on social media, share every fixture. Send the links to teammates, friends and family. Encourage someone who’s never watched hockey before to tune in.  

Let’s show Channel 4 they were right to back hockey. Let’s build the strongest case we’ve ever had for putting hockey back on national television.

A huge good luck to Pat Finegan (pictured) who is playing for Ireland O70s, Chris Ball and Mike Roberts who are playing for Scottish Thistles O65s, and Steve Hollingworth who is playing for Wales O60s!

Mighty Pinks Susan Wood & Sophie Manning were part of England WO35s team who beat the Netherlands 1-0 today, to claim a place in the Masters World Cup final.

They were also both awarded their 50th international caps today - we’re really proud of them both and wish all the team best of luck in the final 💪🏼🏑
