⭐ REFLECTION! ⭐

Well, what can I say to experience my first National Masters competition in over 15-20 years of my athletics hobby in my life. I have said from the beginning that whatever I did over the weekend would be to the best of my own ability. So let me break it down by event to summarise for you... ⚡

100m - out of 11 that entered that showed up, I was 10th overall and ran 12.96s (consecutively this season, I went 9 races including this competition to go under 13s for the 100m so far the past 2 months). And yes I was last in my heat.
200m - the 12 that have entered and 11 only showed up. I was dead last overall and ran 26.91s into a -0.8 headwind (I was also 0.03 off from my season's best legally and not far from my own M35 Club Record for West Norfolk).

Now most people would think and say...

"Why would you go all that way to come last or have a rubbish time?" Or that I was once told in a spat of a toxic argument "you have no potential!" many years ago to ruin my confidence back in the day 😡

But what you're forgetting about the most, is the little things that matter the most likely showing up - that's a small win itself. For me, I like to think I've accomplished the goal to do that in being able to race and turned up to get out of my comfort zone with the local opens and the odd league matches over east of England and London I normally do. 😎

Now I once told my client who has AuDHD the past few months, that I said to her the exact same thing about showing up is a small win (even on the hard days of training and competing), which overtime her confidence will grow to get back to the level of her speed training to help with her short hurdles event. As the story continues in her journey, I look forward to seeing her develop in the long run. Another future post to explain more in detail will follow... 🤟

And finally, I want to thank those who have wished me luck as well as saying well done for the weekend and hope you've been inspired to either take up athletics at masters level or even to start your fitness journey whatever you decide to do. For now, I have 3 weeks for off season to reflect a long season I've had to experience my first year in the masters age group, but I will be back for 2027 season soon enough to go again and do better 💪

⭐ IT'S GO TIME FOR BMAF CHAMPS! ⭐

At the age of 35 years young (or should I say 27 years old metabolically? 🤣), I will be racing my first National Masters Athletics competition and it will be the first since I last raced at any National Athletics able-bodied level over 5600 days ago when I was a uni student back in the day. Although exactly 7384 days ago was the last time I actually won a National Athletics medal as this was at Disability Level. I did actually have a life story that I was going to post but I won't bother you with the full details for now 🙈😂

This weekend, I will go up against the odds to do the best of my own ability with heats and finals for both the 100m and 200m respectively. So to all those that have given me guidance along the way (and those who are no longer with us), including passing on to my current and previous clients to inspire and motivate them to do well. You have given me the strength to get me to this point, as it won't matter whether this weekend if I come last or even win a medal (I like to think so of winning my first national medal for this long 😅). What will matter the most is about me showing up to do it for myself to do well, regardless of all the negativity and obstacles that I've had to deal with in my life and that I should be able to overcome.

So no matter whether you are watching me live in action or catching up to see if I did well over the weekend and seeing the results - or even to ask how I got on a few days later. Just remember, I did it to the best of my own ability and there is no more that I can ask for. And hope you'll be proud of me to make it this far. This has been my story so far, and it's go time!! 💯

⭐ I HAVE A CONFESSION TO MAKE 👀👀⭐

So 2 years ago, I was very fortunate to be part of the School Games 2024 held at Loughborough University, mostly as a Team Staff in Athletics as part of the Beijing squad (well different teams had different Olympic venues at the time, including Sydney, London, Rio, etc). My responsibility at the time was to support the Para Athletes in our team, including 1 that was a handful! But for me as a coach, it was a different experience to learn and undertake what it's like to be in a National competition setting as a whole - which I have taken this experience elsewhere to apply it with 1 or 2 of my clients who I currently coach that need my help to get them warmed up and ready on the day of competition for a couple of Open Meetings, Southern Champs and some local Norfolk comps here and there. So therefore, it has been useful! 💪

A confession I do want to make is that I had expressed my interests for this year's School Games to go back to once again. Back in June of this year I had to pull out as I was planning at the time for British Masters that is taking place the weekend after, considering a lot of preparation time to taper for 2 weeks out is needed to ensure I can get the training in needed. With the School Games takes a chunk of 3-4 days of volunteering to help out and not enough prep training inbetween meant it wasn't possible to make it happen. Plus I wasn't able to afford in having more time off from work under reduced capacity during Annual Leave, etc to scale it in either. So it meant I missed out for this year's event. Hopefully if I'm not under pressure for next time, I might be able to do it for 2028 🤞

For now, it's 1 week to go until I race at British Masters, let's go!!! And just a couple of photo's as a throwback to the first one I did as a coach to volunteered at the School Games 2024. And good luck to anyone doing the for this year, enjoy the experience while you can ⚡😎

FYI - Most people I get alot asking me about the T-Shirt that if I had attended Loughborough University in the past, I wish! 🤣

⭐ I'M NOW ON ANNUAL LEAVE (WELL, REDUCED WORK CAPACITY!) ⭐

This last few weeks had been busy for Liam very recent as a lot of work has been going on behind the scenes to ensure most of the Sub-Contracted work as well as for clients finishing off with their S&C 1:1 Course Sessions to be all up-to-date at this point in time. We can now say as of today, Liam will be having reduced work capacity for his Annual Leave from tomorrow and will be returning to full normality from Wednesday 16th September. As the main reason for the weekend of Mid-September when he'll be competing at the British Masters Athletics Federation Championships in Derby (details to follow for the live results and action will be posted on here at the earliest opportunity).

For the next 2 and a bit weeks, Liam will use his preparation time to ensure he will be ready to compete to the best of his own ability. At the same time, we do have the MOT and Service for the Van that needs to be sorted out on Thursday 3rd September. As well as reduced work capacity that will be in place from Tuesday 1st to 10th September (and 15th as well) with Sub-Contracted as well as Clients for limited availability, and classes in Watton on 2nd and 7th September not to forget! For anyone that is currently having sessions with us, or you are completed but would like to be booked in, please get in touch with Liam to sort out any session(s) to book in with limited dates, times and locations available at the earliest.

Once again, we would like to thank you for your patience and understanding. But during Liam's time off, all emails and phone calls will be answered to on a limited basis.
