**MATCH REPORT** Friday Night GAME at one of the best venues in South Wales - Merthyr away at The Wern.

What a cracking venue! Bit cold up there. But lovely conditions and some excellent rugby on display from both teams.
We managed to scrape a bare 15 together for the game, thank you to Colton for playing out of position as we were a back short. πŸ‘Œ
1st half, we had all the possession (and the attention of the referee πŸ‘€πŸ€£), but the scoreline went against us, with the home side going over for a couple of tries (none converted). We moved the ball around really well and made some good ground out wide. Zac on the far side and Jake on the near, but they managed to keep us out. - Halftime score 10-0 to the home team.
After an inspirational team talk at half time & the referee going to check the rules, we came out firing on all cylinders!
We had a lineout on our own 10m line, from our set piece, Louis made a huge hole in their defence with a brilliant support run from Jake seen him go in under the sticks, converted by Soap. 10-7
Next we saw some wonderful hands to get the ball to Roman, who bustled his way over in the corner for our next score - 10-12
Then merthyr came back straight from the kick off for one of their own. Game was in the balance 15-12
Scrum in the opponents half saw a pick and go, with Dougie scoring in the opposite corner 15-17
Some great defence in the last couple of minutes seen us through for the win πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ‰
Players of the match:-
Back goes to Jake! Great performance young man πŸ‘πŸ‘
Forward goes to Roman! Solid display in the middle and well deserved πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
Next up Pontardulais, for what should be a tough encounter as they'll be looking for revenge from their little trip up to Abernant Park a few weeks ago.

**Match report**

We welcomed Mountain Ash to the welfare park today due to our main pitch being out of use for the week & what a well fought game we saw! Both sides giving their all, to produce some lovely rugby πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ’ͺ

Mount were pressuring us for most of the 1st half, but our defence held strong in the 1st quarter, before Judah appeared out of nowhere to run 70-75 meters to open the scoring. Soap missed the conversation by inches to go up 5-0. Mount came back hard and forced their way over to score 2 tries before half time, none converted. Halftime score 5-10

2nd half started off much the same as the 1st, some handling errors gave Mount some good feild position where they kept us under pressure for most of the game. It took a good 10 mins before they managed to score under the posts for a full 7 points. More scrambled defence on our own line before they managed to break through for their final score.

Final score 5-24

Even though the result didnt go our way, it was a great performance from all 19 players in difficult conditions.

Forward of the match today was a joint award for Dougie & Frankie. Great shift from both players πŸ’ͺ

Back of the match goes to judah, showed great turn of foot to score his try & also saved a certain try in the 1st half. Well done Judah πŸ‘πŸ‘

Honorable mention to Louis and Alex today as well. Louis ran straight and hard and passed well when required. Alex was steady from each ruck keeping our attack going phase after phase πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘well done boys.

Next week's game vs Merthyr πŸ”΄βš«οΈπŸ”΄βš«οΈπŸ‰πŸΊπŸΊ Diolch!

***MATCH RECAP***

A real game of two halves! πŸ™ˆ
Slow start with handling errors and hesitation at the rucks left us 0–5 down at halftime and soon 0–10 behind… but then the switch flipped.

Colton’s perfectly timed intercept try got us going, converted by Soap. From there it was all one-way traffic: Roman powered over, Louis ran in a stunning 50m try, and Colton finished the job with another cracker. Soap added the extras for a 26–10 win. πŸ’ͺπŸ”₯

Back of the day: Jake β€” massive tackles out wide! πŸ‘
Forward of the day: Colton - excellent timing and aggressive play πŸ’ͺ

Thanks to Matt for reffing!

On to training Wednesday β€” let’s keep building πŸ‘Œ

***MATCH ANALYSIS***

Talk about a game of two halves! πŸ™ˆ

The first 30 minutes were challenging for us. The boys were a little off the pace, a few handling errors, a lack of support for the runners, and some hesitation at the rucks. These all contributed to us being 0–5 down at halftime.

The second half began in similar fashion, and we soon found ourselves 0–10 behind. But then came the turning point. We had them pinned in their own half when Colton timed his run perfectly to intercept a pass and score, with Soap adding the conversion. 7–10.

That moment lit the spark. From then on, it was one-way traffic. Roman powered his way over for our next try, followed by an outstanding solo effort from Louis running in from over 50 metres, converted again by Soap. Forward of the match Colton then closed out the game with another excellent try, once more converted by Soap, giving us a well-earned 26–10 victory. πŸ’ͺπŸ‘Š

Da iawn, bois bach.

Back of the day goes to Jake on the wing for some huge tackles β€” well done! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Forward of the day goes to Colton - excellent timing and aggressive play.

Big thanks to Matt Hardman for taking the whistle today.

Looking forward to the return leg and hoping for a strong turnout at training on Wednesday so we can keep building. πŸ‘ŒπŸΊπŸ‰
