Connection.
On World Mental Health Day it’s a timely reminder to us here at Outcast to reflect on what we see day in, day out.
We see people come together,
sometimes with a smile,
sometimes sharing tears,
sometimes swearing at eachother,
but together.
We all play a huge part in eachothers experience of life,
we can help people overcome things that feel too big to face alone,
we can sit with people when they can’t see a silver lining on the horizon,
we can cheer for eachother,
listen,
check in,
give space,
help people reclaim space.
To be honest, most of this has nothing to do with workouts.
We can all do a LOT together, by doing a little for eachother and ourselves.
Thank you to all the people who walk through the door,
you may not know it or believe it,
but you make a difference to so many lives in so many ways.

How are the New Year’s resolutions looking?
If you find yourself doing all the work to take that first step forwards,
only to fall two steps back,
then lining up your ‘dominoes’ may help.
-
“Domino effect” - the cumulative effect produced when one event sets off a chain..
-
If you picture what the end domino is for you, the change you want,
then you can map out what dominos you need to line up in order to hit it.
What step can you take that will start the next?
-
If you want to eat more whole foods,
just buying a load of vegetables with no idea what to cook, or knowing what kale tastes like may not be the first domino.
-
Wanting to lead a more active life that allows you to go adventuring and trying new things probably doesn’t solely depend on having brand new high tech shoes and a GPS watch.
-
The first domino needs to be one you can do,
no barriers,
no excuses.
Do that.
Do what you can’t fail at.
Repeat until the next domino appears.
-
We spend every day lining up dominoes with people.
Let us know if you’d like some help.

Because you’re worth it.
-
We are hardwired over thousands of years to think about NOW.
We are programmed to seek safe, warm, comfortable.
But that’s because those things were a rare find amongst the discomfort and chaos of being alive.
Now, there’s never been more comfort at our disposal.
-
We NEED discomfort.
Humans are INCREDIBLY adaptable.
So if we spend all of our time in comfort, we adapt,
which is lovely,
until life has other plans.
-
Here’s the truth.
Life is going to give you discomfort,
whether you want it or not.
So you can seek it out,
regularly,
in small doses,
so when it appears,
you’re adapted.
-
One of our core values is RESILIENCE.
Seek discomfort.
Don’t wait.
Outcast is recruiting.

Why do you train?
To feel good.
To give you confidence.
To save a relationship.
To do your hobbies.
To be a better parent.
To give your brain space.
To replace an addiction.
To look better naked.
To achieve things you never thought you could.
All reasons to show up every single day.
Dig deep. Discover your why. It’ll hold you accountable.
