The horse market has shifted a lot over the past couple of years, and I’m still having daily conversations with buyers who aren’t quite sure what their budget realistically looks like right now — so here’s a helpful, honest breakdown 👇

💰 £3,000 – £5,000
At this level, you’re typically looking at:
• Young, green or unproven horses
• Horses needing further education or consistency
• Potential projects with the right approach

💰 £5,000 – £10,000
This is where options start to open up:
• Riding club allrounders
• Horses with some experience but not polished
• Lower-level competition mileage
• Older horses with experience (14+)

💰 £10,000 – £20,000
A very active part of the market:
• Well-schooled horses
• Genuine amateurs’ rides
• Horses with consistent competition records (low–mid level)

💰 £20,000+
Now you’re stepping into:
• Established competition horses
• Quality amateurs / junior rides
• Horses with strong records, rideability and consistency

✨ What’s important to remember:
The right horse isn’t just about budget — it’s about suitability, temperament, and long-term partnership.

I always say: it’s better to buy the right horse once than the wrong horse twice.

So Scarlett sat on her first stallion ( Welsh sec D) today thanks to JH Equestrian I think she was pleased with herself!

Belated Happy birthday to George!! He’s officially 2years old !! For some reason we thought it was today but it was the 9th October!! Sorry George!! But least you had apples and carrots to make up for it today!!

He’s such a super pony and so well behaved for his age not to mention how he just takes everything in his stride !! Couldn’t of wished for a better pony for Scarlett ❤️❤️

George has grown as now he can nearly see over the door 🤣🤣 think someone wanted their dinner 🤣🤣

Doesn’t matter what sport it is if some one or you is having a mental block you cannot force it you have to let them work through it themselves and just be there to support them .

I know this as I’ve had them both in horses and in the gymnastics and the more someone tries to force it the more likely they will quit the sport entirely or will fall out with the person pushing

So be kind be encouraging and most importantly be understanding

Of people don’t want to ride , or they don’t want to canter , or they don’t want to jump etc etc leave them to it let them just enjoy what they’re doing the horses don’t care whether they’re rode or not they just care if they are loved and looked after .

By all means offer your support and encouraging but don’t belittle, be disrespectful ir make fun of them as one day you might just be needing support in return ir you may have a mental block yourself

You can’t judge people if you haven’t walked in their shoes and what you think is right may not be right for them!!
