Hooop day! :D I did say something about combining the levels last week but we are still on at the same time as usual today so it's beginners at 6pm and intermediate at 7pm! It wasn't an unpopular idea, but I'm still umming and ahhing about it so I'll leave it for now and see how it goes :) Apologies for the last minute confirmation!
Did you Know that Sarah hand made this awesome hoop bag? And she recently updated it and embriodered the name on it, isn't it fantastic! I love it so much and it makes the hoops a lot easier to transport, thank you so much Sarah

It's hoooop day! :D To answer some questions I have been asked recently: Most of our big stripy 'on-body' hoops are HDPE, 38" in diameter, 3/4" thick and have gaffer tape for grip. The bigger ones are 44". Our small one-colour 'off body' hoops are polypro, 32" in diameter, also 3/4" and are lightly sanded on the inside edge for grip. In the intermediate class we also use 36" 3/4" polypro hoops taped with shiny deco tape and proper grip tape (not gaffer).
If you're wanting your own hoops to practice at home I recommend hoopspin.co.uk You might prefer a slightly larger hoop like 40" or 42" for on-body, or a slightly smaller hoop for off-body, like 29". Send me a message if you want any help choosing a size.
A couple of you asked what else might be going on, currently these classes on Wednesdays are the only weekly classes I'm teaching. When I get my driving licence I plan to open another class but don't hold your breath, it'll be next winter at the earliest! I'll be teaching at two really awesome UK hoop events this year, Devon Hoop Day in June Devon Hoop Day and SWhoop (Bristol) in October swhoop.hoopingmad.co.uk/ Beginners are welcome at both! And I teach online, I do workshops and privates: super-hooper.com/pages/classes I'm on the socials :)
I can't wait for class this evening, see you soon!
Hoopy New Year! :D Find a new way to have fun, move your body and express yourself with a hula hoop in 2026, new Total Beginners six-week course starting January 7th, even if you've never touched a hoop before this class is for YOU! Hooping is more than waist hooping and is such a joyful way to be creative and find your flow, you'll be so surprised with what you can learn, it's so good for your brain as well as your body

I will be teaching an online hoop balance workshop on Sunday the 23rd at 7pm UK time. Anyone can join in, it's free/donation based and for all levels - even if you've never done any prop balancing before, I'll be starting from the beginning and showing you how balance applies to other hoop moves. All levels can benefit from a bit of balance practice! :) I'll be recording it and will send the recording to anyone who donates any amount, so you can still access it if you can't be there live. You'll need your polypro hoop and at least enough ceiling space to do a chest roll. Sign up here -> https://forms.gle/vnfSzvj1gZdQ1QvBA

Another hoop legend to introduce! If you were in class last week you’ll recognise a chunk of this flow, I taught a section of what I learned from the incredible Taylor Duffrin / Taylor Flows at Oasis, and I thought you’d like to see it done by the Queen herself! Sharing directly from ig wasn't working so here's the link: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DOboVRQDpwj/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== I think you need an instagram account to see it - if you don’t have one there’s a recording of one of her performances (at Swhoop!) at the bottom of the front page of her website, it’s well worth seeing: https://www.taylorflows.com/
See you in hoop class later, there’s loads more fun things to come! :D

Lovely hoopers, I have returned! But I have brought a mystery illness with me... With great regret I'm not going to be able to be there tonight, but if you're feeling it YOU can be there to use the space and have a flow jam, it'll be on me, it won't count as a lesson, it's just a free space to flow with high ceilings, maybe look at some recap vids and see what you can remember or trick-share with whoever is there? What a shame though, I am bubbling with ideas and new things to share with you and I can't wait to get back in class! See you next week!
Here's our incredible eight-person chest roll from yesterday's class! :D Isn't it great! It only took three tries and I only hit one person in the face in the process - sorry Dawn!
