U19 WEEKEND ROUND-UP | LIONS & COUGARS
A challenging weekend across our U19 age groups, but one we knew was going to be difficult before the first puck even dropped.
With players spread across Wildcats 2, U19 National League and U19A, alongside players stepping up from our two U16 squads, squad availability was stretched across the board.
🦁 U19 NATIONAL LEAGUE | SWINDON 4–9 LEEDS
Saturday saw our Cougars welcome Leeds for their first game of the season.
It was a challenging opening period, with Leeds getting off to a flying start and putting several goals on the board.
Swindon settled into the game and held Leeds in the second period, but despite their efforts to recover, the visitors took the 9–4 victory.
🥅 Swindon Goals:
Charlie Russell ×2
Finley Ellis ×1
Oskar Sagan ×1
⭐ Player of the Game: Ethan Hills
🦁 U19 NATIONAL LEAGUE | 4–1 LOSS
Sunday brought another challenge for the Cougars, with further squad clashes across the U19 age bracket and Wildcats 2 commitments.
A competitive game where the final 4–1 scoreline didn’t fully reflect how closely contested the match was.
🥅 Swindon Goal: Charlie Russell
⭐ Player of the Game: Max Skeete
🦁 U19A LIONS | HARINGEY HOUNDS 10–3 SWINDON
Meanwhile, our U19A Lions travelled to Alexandra Palace on Sunday to face Haringey Hounds.
Another difficult fixture for an already stretched age group, with the Lions trailing 4–1 after the first period.
Despite adding two goals in the final period, Haringey took the 10–3 victory.
🥅 Netminder Rhys Castle faced an incredible 57 shots throughout the game, a demanding evening between the pipes.
🥅 Swindon Goals:
Jack Wait x 3
THREE GAMES. ONE STRETCHED AGE GROUP.
Results weren’t what we wanted this weekend, and there’s no dressing that up.
However, a genuine thank you must go to every player who stepped up, played across age groups and supported a squad that needed numbers without any preparation.
