🐴 IMPORTANT CLIENT UPDATE: KEEPING OUR HORSES SAFE 🐴
You may have seen news about a local outbreak of "Strangles" within the SN postcode area.
To be precise, the outbreak is at Oxleaze Farm Stud & Livery in Woolstone, Faringdon (SN7 7QS). While they are doing an amazing job following strict vet advice to contain it, we need to take a few quick precautions here at our yard to keep our own horses safe and healthy.
What is Strangles?
It is a highly contagious respiratory infection in horses. It cannot be passed to humans, so you are completely safe! However, it spreads very easily between horses through nose-to-nose contact or through mucus left on surfaces like gates, buckets, clothes, and boots. Strangles can be fatal for horses which is why this is a very serious post.
How you can help us on your next visit:
🧼 Use Hand Sanitiser: Please use the hand gel hanging on our gates or inside the office as soon as you arrive.
👕 Fresh Clothes & Clean Boots: If you have visited any other horse yards or have friends at the Uffington/Woolstone yard, please change your clothes and scrub the tops and soles of your boots before coming to see us. The affected yard has done everything they can do by letting others know and locking down. This is not their fault, they are not villians, they are trying to get their horses safely through a very difficult time.
Our horses love your visits, and these simple steps will keep them happy, healthy, and doing what they do best! Thank you so much for your support. 💛
