1️⃣6️⃣ PLATEAU ⛳️
The extra hole!
Playing 18 holes, this is the 16th hole on the back nine.
Elevated tee and green, which sits on a PLATEAU - hence the name.
Tough par 3, especially if windy, tee shot is vital.
Its either fly it all the way and hope that you've got the right club, or bounce it in a very narrow gap, to pop up on the green. Undulating approach makes it more difficult.
Banked green can make putting difficult.
Now! Back to the clubhouse for a drink ! You’ve earned it!!
White Tee : 167 Yards
Yellow Tee : 155 Yard

9️⃣ SCHOOL ⛳️
The Par 4 home hole is named as it looks directly at and runs alongside the village school.
A good drive helps, careful to avoid “out of bounds” all the way up the left hand side.
The elevated, tight, green is surrounded by a hollow, so again the second shot is vital.
A card buster indeed to finish.
White Tee : 327 Yards
Yellow Tee : 327 Yard
ALLANISH PAIRS OPEN
The Annual ALLANISH PAIRS trophy took place on Sunday 19th June.
The weather was dry & sunny but a stiff breeze ensured a challenge to the Gents & Ladies taking part, though the course was in immaculate condition.
The result was a fascinating battle as the three best returns all returned the same nett scores!
It was down to the BIH scores (Better Inward Half) - the scores over the closing 9 holes.
Triumphant were Port golfers James & Moira Gordon with their Nett 63 just pipping another pair of Port members Hamish Skinner and Mike Keay with another nett 63. In third place came Tain GC stalwarts Martin & Anne Ryan - yes you've guessed Nett 63!
Congratulations to Martin Lochead and Bobby Sutherland for sorting that one out!!
Winners of next best pair with a lady member were the Port's Andrew & Heather Small Nett 66.
A big thank you to our sponsors Ally & Ish and Bobby Sutherland as starter / recorder, and Martin Lochead for coordination.
RESULTS
(1) James & Moira Gordon (Portmahomack GC) Nett (63) (BIH)
(2) Hamish Skinner & Mike Keay (Portmahomack GC) Nett 63
(3) Martin 7 Anne Ryan (Tain GC) Nett 63
Next best team with a lady - Andrew & Heather Small (Portmahomack GC) 66

8️⃣ JACKIE'S BRAWEST ⛳️
Magnificent views of the Dornoch Firth from the tee, heading towards Tarbat Old Church in the distance.
Named after the late Jackie McKay, long serving greenskeeper. Jackie redesigned the hole to its current position, and it provides a real challenge.
Second shot is key to this hole….as the green is elevated and banked. A plateau green, guarded by banks and two fierce bunkers, means finding a good second shot is vital……and if you go through the green, the road waits!
Even then, putting can be vital, depending Mike, the greenskeeper's flag position!
White Tee : 297 Yards
Yellow Tee : 289 Yard
Don't miss out on a summer of golfing. Get signed up to these sessions at the Port with a club professional!
Well done yo everyone who played at the weekend!
7️⃣ BUNKERS ⛳️
Shortest hole on the course (Par 3)
Blind tee shot, flag might just be visible on the skyline.
Narrow fairway, and front of green has two bunkers close together, leaving a narrow landing area.
If you over-run the green, theres another bunker at the back! Hence the name “Bunkers”
White Tee : 126 Yards
Yellow Tee : 121 Yard
Greensomes Sat 4th June DRAW
When you sink a 6ft putt, the Ribenas in the clubhouse are on you! 🧃🏌️
6️⃣ SEAFIELD ⛳️
Long, undulating, uphill Par 4 to blind green, not helped by the prevailing wind. Named after area in line with the hole.
Tee shot to rising fairway - marker shows the way (Green is hidden over, and down the hill) .
Undulating fairway means tee shot is important, and second shot can be blind to a well guarded green - bunkered on both sides.
Ring the bell as you leave the green! 🔔
White Tee : 353 Yards
Yellow Tee : 340 Yard
Thanks to Mike for capturing this gorgeous photo! Got any good photos? Share then with us!
