Delighted to get the opportunity to sponsor one of the new flags at Tain Golf Club.

A couple of legends photographed with a triple US Open winner.

Final Golf Sixes event at Tain Golf Club with Royal Dornoch GC and Golspie GC. Great fun had by all and Tain GC finish in 2nd place over the 3 events. Thanks to all the clubs, their staff and the volunteers who made it possible for the kids to take part.

Got my hands dirty this morning helping set up for Club Championship. Delighted to see the rain for the course but it affected some of the bunkers. A lot of flooding too as the ground was so hard.
The rain also provided us with the results of an experiment that is ongoing. The sand in our bunkers is our own local dune sand. It can be very fine and be easily blown about in windy dry conditions. It is also hydrophobic when very dry. This stops the water from penetrating the sand. Quite interesting to see but very difficult to get the bunker back to a playable state. We have been looking on site for a heavier and bigger grain form of dune sand. It was found out at the 9th while performing another job. We were able to excavate a quantity to fill some of our new bunkers and today was the first opportunity to see how heavy rain affected the new sand. Safe to say its been a resounding success. Water penetrated the new sand and was easy to rake, unlike the old sand. So we now know where to get it, but at the moment we are not in a position to do it. Hopefully within the next few years we can and then all of the sand in our bunkers will be replaced.
The Ross-shire Raiders were north last Friday at Royal Dornoch Golf Club with Golspie Golf Club 1889 . Kids did brilliantly by improving a position and came 2nd this time round. Big thanks to the volunteers and markers. Date for the home fixture at Tain Golf Club still to be finalised.

Members, are you entered this Saturday!! We were at the Grand Final last year with a -7 under par round by Graeme Vass. Lets see if anyone catch match that for a chance!

Our first trip today in the Golf Sixes league that we've entered this year at Golspie Golf Club 1889. Great fun, hospitality and competition. Next stop Royal Dornoch.

Teuchter Tour educational week in the Emirates comes to a close with tonight's Gala Prize-giving. Room champions Paul and Will. Individual champion, Andrew Black. Experienced campaigners Billy Ferries and Frank Mackle had a depressing last place in the Room Team Challenge. The Ross-shire Journal were quick on the phone wanting to interview Billy. They were desperate to get a comment on his disastrous start to the year following his heavy defeat in the clubhouse "Sair Heed" putting event won by club professional Stuart Morrison. His agent, Frank, said he wasn't in a position to make a comment at this time and needed time alone to assess his current equipment options. He is very keen to try the new Srixon clubs in April this year at their annual fitting event in association with Tain Proshop Tain Golf Club .
Due to flight cancellations and a delayed arrival. My work trip away( Billy already asking for putting tips on the plane) the shop will be closed up to and including Saturday 28th January. Alliance plays on Sunday so no Pro's Winter Series this weekend.
It's on! Proshop Winter Series is a go. Full greens ready to play.
Unfortunately the course hasn't made It. Now raining on frozen ground as well, hiding the ice.

"Bruno" here for his job interview today. Very experienced with over 300 notches on his bed post.
Proshop Winter Series is ON!

Putting lessons now being delivered in the Star. It's going to be a long night. Billy struggling to deal with the defeat.
Due to foreseen circumstances the Proshop will be closed tomorrow, 3rd January. Following a tremendous victory in the clubhouse putting championship with a crushing defeat inflicted on Billy Ferries I need to close the shop tomorrow. Celebrations will be going long into the night and I need to apologise for my absence tomorrow.
I am obviously available for putting lessons at great value but you'll need to get in the que behind Billy who I'll need to provide many hours of help.
High on his perch.
