☀️🐎Rasus Talsarn – A Fond Farewell🐎☀️
With heavy hearts, the Rasus Talsarn committee has made the difficult decision not to run the event this year — and to step back from organising it in the future.
Over the years, we’ve shared unforgettable days filled with excitement, community spirit, laughter, and truly great racing. It’s been a joy and a privilege to host this event, and we’re deeply grateful to everyone who has supported it — from the dedicated volunteers to the loyal horse owners, jockeys, judges and all who turned up year after year to cheer from the sidelines.
Talsarn races holds a special place in local history, and we sincerely hope it may return again in new hands. If anyone in the community feels called to carry the tradition forward, please get in touch with Wales & Borders Harness Racing — they’ll be more than happy to advise.
This decision hasn’t come lightly. The challenges of recent years — including declining public attendance and fewer horses entering — have made it increasingly hard to run the event sustainably. Essentials like food, drink, and infrastructure are harder to secure, and the financial risk of running at a loss has sadly become too great.
Thank you for being part of the Rasus Talsarn story. We’re proud of what’s been built, and though this chapter may be closing, we’ll always hold a deep love for the sport, the people, and the place that made it all possible.
To dissolve the charitable ccount which stands at £3646.04 we are donating:
✅£3000 to Wales and Borders Harness Racing Ltd who have assured us they are putting a meeting at Almeley on 2nd Aug
✅£646.04 to The Welsh Air Ambulance
With heartfelt thanks,
The Rasus Talsarn Committee / Wayne, Emma, Dai and Claire
