A HUGE well done to the Somerset Women’s O40s, who continued their season with a strong 4-1 away win against Gloucestershire yesterday 👏

11U County Cup | Day 2 🎾

What a fantastic effort from the Somerset girls and boys today! 👏

The girls faced a strong Oxfordshire side before narrowly losing 2-4 to Devon in a closely fought match.

💪 Zani picked up a great win at No.4, while Sophie and Sage combined brilliantly for a doubles victory to finish the day on a high! 😁

The girls have had a fantastic weekend, showing great teamwork, determination and positive attitudes throughout 🤩

The boys were involved in a hugely competitive match against Dorset, taking the tie all the way to a shootout after finishing level at 3-3. The team battled hard but couldn’t quite get over the line, with Dorset edging the win.

👏 Overall, a fantastic weekend of tennis and plenty to be proud of from both teams.

A huge thank you to coaches Sophie, Nirva, Shaun and John, and to all our supportive tennis families for their encouragement throughout the weekend 🙏

We're back again this weekend for more county cup action, this time with the Somerset 11U teams.

The girls are at Oxstalls Sports Park, whilst the boys are at South Devon Tennis Centre.

Great to see the Somerset O50s padel players taking part in a friendly against our friends in Avon earlier this week at Padel People, Shepton Mallet.

A superb day on court rounded off by afternoon tea at Soho House.

🎾 10U Boys County Cup | South Area Finals 🎾

A fantastic weekend of tennis for our 10U Boys at the South Area Finals! 💪

The team finished Day 2 with an excellent 4-2 victory over Berkshire before coming up against a very strong Norfolk side, who secured a 6-0 win. The boys ultimately finished 4th out of 5 counties against some of the strongest opposition in the region.

While the results didn't always go our way, the team showed incredible determination, resilience and sportsmanship throughout the weekend. Most importantly, they were unbeaten when it came to team spirit and support for one another! 🙌

We're incredibly proud of every player for the way they represented the county both on and off the court. 🦾

A huge thank you to Captains Sophie, Tim and Julie for their leadership and support, and to all the parents who helped make the weekend such a positive experience.

🎾 10U Boys County Cup | South Area Finals 🎾

A tough opening day for the Somerset boys, who faced strong opposition from Middlesex and Surrey.

While the results didn’t go our way, there were plenty of positives to take from the day, with some determined performances and several matches being pushed all the way to a deciding third set. 💪

The boys showed great resilience, battled for every point, and never stopped competing.

💛 Even if we’re not winning on court, we’re definitely winning when it comes to team spirit! 💛

The team are now refuelling, recovering, and getting ready to go again tomorrow. 🦾🎾

We’ve partnered with the Women in Sport Research and Innovation Hub at Loughborough University to better understand how this stage of life is experienced by female tennis and padel coaches—and what support could make a real difference.
We’re looking for self-employed coaches where coaching is your main source of income to take part in the research. You can choose to join:
✅ A 1:1 interview (45–60 minutes)
or
✅ A small online discussion group (60–75 minutes)
Both options offer a supportive, confidential space to share your experiences and help shape future support for coaches across the sport.
