Had a lot of fun tonight crossing and uncrossing our arms in entertainingly violent ways, krumpin' and zwerchin' like it's 1426!

Lovely evening filled with the sound of clashing swords! A focus on sparring tonight, in the main group and the beginners also gave the opportunity to brush up on our judging skills! Some dodgy calls but all great fun 🙂

Session Cancellation 27th May

Unfortunately, today’s session (27 May) has been cancelled due to the heatwave. The roof space venue becomes extremely hot (close to 40°C), so this decision has been made for everyone’s safety. Next weeks session is planned to go ahead as usual.

Busy hall tonight! Session one of beginners course started with great effort and enthusiasm from our new intake, a pleasure to see so many back to learn more after our taster last week

End of the month means alternate weapons, we had a introductory look at Bolognese Sidesword - mispronouncing Italian instead of German for a change! Plenty of time for some free play as well , highlights included Annette landing some good hits with the boffer on Chairman Ack, and Ben pulling off a beautiful Matrix like dodge during a Sidesword Vs Messer bout. Remember it's free taster session next week if anyone wants to try out HEMA ⚔️🙂

Fantastic first day at the Abbey, there was cutting, sparring, lots of lessons and tons of lovely people keen to talk about swords with us 🙂

Fun session tonight playing with flowing from short edge to long edge cuts. But not just making pretty patterns - applying those techniques to provoke and defeat our opponents guard. Very satisfying!
