Morning.
This coming Saturday, 6th June, the club will be open from 10.00-12.00

01/06/2026

On Saturday the 4th July it's Armed Forces Day in Vivary Park Taunton. If you haven't ben yet it's a good day out, and if you have been, then come again.
We will have a marquee at the event to promote our little club and, hopefully, sell off some of our handmade merch made from used ammo from the club shooters. A little Q&A if your interested in our club and we should have some 'vintage' deactivated fi****ms on display.

It's a general shooting day for members at the club so our club will be open should you want to take a look around, sorry but you will not be able to handle any fi****ms at the club.

For members, I'll post a time when the club will be open on that day. Access to the club should not be a problem as the security team know we are there and need to be able to get to the club.
Members, park in the front and rear car parks, not on the road. Any different to the above and I'll let you know.

Visitors, kindly do not drive to the club, access to the club and car parks will be by club ID badge only.

📢 ATTENTION TDSA MEMBERS: New Saturday Hours & Booking

Starting Saturday, June 6th, we are trialling a brand-new morning time slot for our general shooting Saturday sessions!

⏰ New Hours: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM (moving from our previous afternoon slot).

We are adjusting these hours to see if a morning slot better suits the membership. However, we need your active support to keep these sessions running.

⚠️ Please Note: This is a trial run.
If the new morning hours are poorly supported and we only see a handful of regular attendees, Saturday sessions will unfortunately be dropped from the club calendar entirely. If you want to keep Saturday shooting alive, please come down and make use of these new morning slots!

📝 HOW TO ATTEND (Strictly Pre-Booked Only)
To respect our volunteers' time and ensure the range is utilised effectively, advance booking is mandatory. Our Desk Officers give up their weekends to open the facility, so we cannot accommodate unbooked walk-ins. If you haven’t booked, you won't be permitted to shoot.

Please use the standard online booking scheme to secure your slot.

12/05/2026

Just a reminder that this Saturday we are open but this is for general shooting and not airguns.
If you can't get onto the website to use the online booking system, then use the [email protected] address. State your name and club membership number.

I tuned in my CZ457 LRP mkII. Just trying to find the best round, 10 shots. 5 SK standard to the left and 5 CCI standard to the right, hard choice.

Probably will depend on what's available. Scope Hawke Sidewinder 30 FFP 6-24x56 SF:FFP MOA.

25 yds but now that we're dialled in we'll be stepping out a bit further.

I spent some quality time on the 25-yard line today getting my CZ 457 zeroed in, and I couldn't be happier with the results!

There’s something incredibly satisfying about the process of walking a group into the center. Started with some adjustments to find my point of aim, and after a few fine-tunes on the Hawke scope, I finished the session with a 10-shot group that speaks for itself.

The Setup:

Rifle: CZ 457 (Bolt-action perfection)

Glass: Hawke Optics

Distance: 25 Yards

The Result: One ragged hole right where it belongs. It took a little bit of back-and-forth—a few clicks left, a few clicks up—but patience pays off.

Nothing beats the precision of a CZ when you’ve got the right glass and a steady hand. Ready for the next challenge!

Quick Tip for the Group: If you’re ever zeroing at 25 yards, remember that those clicks are tiny! It took a minute to find the sweet spot, but once the windage and elevation clicked into place, the rifle did the rest of the work.

Looking for a New Challenge? Come Try Target Shooting at T.D.S.A! 🎯

Have you ever watched target shooting on television and thought, "I'd love to try that"? Or perhaps you are simply looking for a new, unique hobby that challenges your focus and precision?

Here at the Taunton Deane Shooting Association (T.D.S.A.), our doors are open and we are actively welcoming new members to join our community!

Target shooting is one of the most inclusive sports in the world. It doesn't rely on brute strength or sheer athletic endurance; instead, it's all about concentration, breathing, and technique. It is a fantastic way to clear your mind after a long week, and it’s a sport that people of all ages and physical abilities can compete in side-by-side.

What Do We Shoot?
At T.D.S.A., we specialise in Rifle and Pistol shooting. This involves fi****ms chambered in pistol calibres—ranging from the gentle, beginner-friendly .22LR right up to the classic .44S.

If you are a complete beginner, don't worry! You don't need any prior experience, a Fi****ms Certificate (FAC), or your own equipment to get started.

Your Journey to Becoming a Member
We have a clear, structured pathway to take you from a complete novice to a safe, confident, and fully-fledged club member. As you can see in the attached graphic, the process is straightforward:

Step 1: Sign Up! Come on down, fill out a membership form, and bring along 2 passport-sized photos, a form of ID, and a ÂŁ20 fee.

Steps 2 & 3: The Clearances. As per UK law, your details are sent for a routine Police check (allow about 2 weeks). Once you are cleared, the fun begins! You can head onto the range to shoot under the close instruction of our experienced team. Don't have gear? No problem. We provide the eye and ear protection for you.

Steps 4 & 5: Learn and Progress. Over the coming weeks, you'll turn up, shoot, and learn. After a minimum of 10 probationary visits, you'll take a friendly assessment. Once you pass, you can shoot on the range unaccompanied!

Steps 6 & 7: Full Membership. After completing your 3-month probationary period, you could become a full T.D.S.A. member. At this stage, if you wish, you can apply to the Police for your own personal Fi****ms Certificate (FAC).

Ready to take the first step?
Safety is our absolute priority, but having a great time in a friendly, supportive community comes a very close second.

Check out the attached infographic for the step-by-step breakdown, and head over to www.tdsashooting.co.uk to find out more.

We can't wait to welcome you to the firing line!
