Lovely morning at Neroche 10k at which our very own Alex did the timing and Dave was marshalling. Later on Dan is putting on Mendip Murmuration with his Channel Events hat on 😁
Victories in the 10k for Taunton Half trophy winners Tom Addison-Wood and Tanya Batten. Fantastic running by all in warm conditions
Did you run this one? Are you racing tomorrow?

It’s Friday… time for a bit of fun, although of course this is a serious subject!
👟 RUNNING SHOES!!!
What shoes do you plan to run Taunton Half in? Have you found a pair that work like a dream when it comes to road running?
This year’s race winner can’t wear super shoes because of what they do to his ankles, so he managed to finish 1st in a trusty pair of Brooks Adrenaline!
What’s your go to road shoe?…..

We are extremely lucky to have the support of various awesome organisations in Taunton, one of these being The Museum of Somerset, where registration will take place in 2027 again
This fantastic museum has various special events and talks on throughout the year, and showcases many artefacts from different eras of Somerset’s history
Check out what’s coming up via the website here… https://swheritage.org.uk/museum-of-somerset/
On the subject of Taunton and its history did you know?….
🐉 The name Taunton means ‘Town on the river Tone’ and the original settlement was built around Taunton Castle, which is where the Museum now stands
🐉 The tower of St Mary Magdalene’s Church, which dominates the Taunton skyline along with the floodlights from the cricket ground, has the tallest church tower in Somerset at 163 feet (50 metres)
🐉 Vivary Park got its name because it was built on the complex of a vivarium (fish farm) that used to serve eels, pike and bream to Taunton Castle and the royal household
What other cool facts do you know about Taunton or Somerset?…..

Many thanks to Nadine Prouse for digging out this special 30th edition supplement on Taunton Half from way back in 2013!
Incidentally this was the year that one of our race directors Dave Urwin finished just 11 seconds behind Hannah Taunton, our Paralympic bronze medallist who started the race alongside the mayor this year… in his own words, “Hannah’s got way quicker since then and I’ve got a fair bit slower!”
Check out the images from some of the older editions of the race! Does any of this bring back memories for you of previous editions you ran?
It’s truly an honour to know that we’re continuing this amazing legacy 😁

⭐ FEEDBACK FRIDAY ⭐
We are extremely proud of all the wonderful feedback we received for 2026’s race and here we share just one of many excellent reviews
Despite this we realise there are some areas we can sharpen up for next year. To this end we have recently met with the traffic management team and are working with them on an ongoing basis to ensure next year’s race is as safe as possible. We have a plan to make the start area a little smoother amongst other things.
We are dedicated in the longer term to making this Half Marathon the best experience it can possibly be for all who enter 😁

🐉 This time last year the initial buzz around the returning Taunton Half Marathon had faded a little into the background and it wasn’t until the autumn when it started getting closer that things reignited again
🏃♂️ This year the entries have been coming in steadily since that wonderful day in March when the event took place. Now a bit over 25% of places remain
🏃♀️ We don’t know when they will all have gone but at the current rate it’s due to be long before summer’s over. Don’t miss out….
